Version 1.5.2.20 (2014-04-07): Yay, a new build!

I took a break to work on some new projects over Christmas and New Years vacation, and one of them turned into a months-long obsession to the exclusion of all else. The end result was a console-based virtual analog synthesizer . I did actually work on Battlezone some over the past four months, and t...

Re: BZ 0.7beta cd

While it's not perfect, I did try to make 1.5 work with the 0.7 assets. I definitely like the original machine gun rate of fire and the punchier AT-Stabber sound and visual effect. (We halved the machine gun rate of fire for release to work better with multiplayer.)

Re: Sensitivity/acceleration behavior

I rolled back my recent(ish) input changes as a test and found no difference in vehicle handling so it's not that. Have you tried testing with an earlier build for comparison?

Version 1.5.2.19 (2013-11-27): Big pile of fixes

It's been a while, so it's time for another build. This should fix most of the problems reported in 1.5.2.18. It also improves support for the 16-Bit Enhanced Texture Pack. If unpacked into the root folder of the game install instead of addon, setting LargeAssets=2 in render.cfg will enable it while...

Re: XBR upscaling

BZ2's textures are pretty small by modern standards so texture compression doesn't provide much benefit. DXTC reduces textures by a factor of 4 but uncompressed 16-bit textures should fit into video memory of even older graphics cards. That's my opinion, at least. :) If I had to choose, I'd leave us...

That's been fixed in subsequent builds.

Re: Question for ultraken on makemap

By the way, the latest verison of MakeMAP can read MAP files (all types) and write TGA and BMP files (-tga and -bmp options respectively). It's now a fully-functional batch "uncooker" tool (though less friendly the MAP Viewer from DummyWorld) and can apply the full set of BZ1 texture proce...

Re: Question for ultraken on makemap

Ideally one texture pixel corresponds to one screen pixel. If the texture is a lot larger, the renderer will use a smaller mipmap to get closer to 1:1.

Version 1.5.2.18 (2013-10-17): Multiplayer Unb0rked UPDATED

This build fixes the stuttering movement and frozen powerups in multiplayer that made it nearly unplayable. There's a few other things in there too. There's also yet another new All-In-One 1.5.2 Asset Pack (featuring MultDM29 Great Pyramid with its original boundaries) and another new 16-bit Enhance...

Re: A few oddities and a menu change

I'd be making a patch installer similar to the old bzpat14.exe, not a full installer. It would require an existing Battlezone install (1.0-1.5).

Re: Question for ultraken on makemap

Most hardware requires that mipmapped textures have power-of-two dimensions. A 256x512 texture should work but a 384x512 would only work if it were not mipmapped (usually a UI texture).

Re: A few oddities and a menu change

It's worth a shot. My goal is to make it all-inclusive but I haven't validated it fully yet. Now that 1.5.2 is winding down, I want to put together a replacement for the old Final 1.5.0 Patch. (I really need to learn how to make an installer so it's easier for non-technical people to apply.)

Version 1.5.2.17 (2013-10-08): More fixes!

Another day, another build... There's also another new All-In-One 1.5.2 Asset Pack (with Large Asset Pack built in) and another new 16-bit Enhanced Texture Pack (with better Achilles sky). Huzzah! Unofficial 1.5 Patch Hub with common files shared between versions, documentation, utilities, and more ...

Re: A few oddities and a menu change

I finally figured it out. I had been using a set of merged BZ/RO ZFS files that weren't on my site. The new All-In-One 1.5.2 Asset Pack includes the RO content as part of the patch ZFS files so it can upgrade a retail install without touching the original ZFS files.

Version 1.5.2.16 (2013-10-05) Bugfixes and Assets

The build itself is a relatively minor update but there's a new All-In-One 1.5.2 Asset Pack and a new 16-bit Enhanced Texture Pack (now with buildings, props, and Black Dogs). As the build notes say, make sure you remove the old copy of bzone152.zfs from addon! Unofficial 1.5 Patch Hub with common f...
