I'm currently learning Python to aid with writing extensions for Poser. A combination of documentation and looking at other people's code is very effective, especially if you're already familiar with programming logic.
I know, I know, it's only a scripting language but the principle's the same.

Re: Unreal Engine 4 & Battlezone
Every Tick, the code gets the object location, and does a line trace between it and anything ### units below it. I then add ### units to the impact point of the trace and set the location of the craft to that vector. Although this works, it's incredibly uh... glitchy looking. And doesn't appear smo...

Most of which is handled natively by the engine.

What's so hard about basic physics code with inertia and drag?

Re: xsi files
Because when the game loads the files it compiles them into .msh and then it doesn't need the xsi anymore. The pak only contains .msh files.
I believe Nielk or someone is trying to reverse engineer the msh format, but for the longest time they were considered unable to be edited.

Re: BZ2 Texture editing
The usual use for low-resolution textures is for lodding or mipmapping.

Re: Battlezone 2.5
The main issue I have with BZ2's resource system is that due to how extractors work, specifically upgraded ones, you're much better off spamming cheap stuff like mortar bikes than waiting for an expensive unit like an assault tank because on top of costing more resources, the final half of the requi...

Re: Bionite: Origins needs Support!
Based on LTFeed's posts in the last page or so of this thread, it's sounding more and more like this is his first ever project. This will be an expensive, prolonged car crash that will be enjoyable to watch. It reminds me of when TJ did the "I'm not content with this being a mod, I'm going to m...

Re: Bionite: Origins needs Support!
Engine switching this late in development will be a death blow. Don't do it, regardless of how tempting it sounds.

Re: Weapon Making
I could probably do it, but the time saved wouldn't be sufficient to justify it. It only takes a few seconds to load battlezone 2 and equip yourself with it to test, plus most people nowadays are pretty good at visualising what the weapon will look like as they're writing it.

Looks great! The screenshots I've seen so far don't do it justice. Absolutely loved your job of Fleshstorm 2 so I'm confident that it'll play as well as it looks.

Re: Kickstarter & games - a business look
That was a good read. Someone on Slashdot said it would probably be a good idea to build the game based on the original specification regardless of how much money you receive and then produce a free expansion pack that adds the extra features in. That way it's easier to budget, people get their proj...

Re: Bionite: Origins needs Support!
A little late to be saying this, but I really hope they changed the HUD since then, and I'm not just talking about the misalignment. I can't tell what it's showing at a single or even sustained look at it. The BZ2 UI is extremely clean, efficient and unobtrusive, but the one in the latest screenshot...

Re: runescape
I have a runescape account, Darkhemming, but it sees little to no use recently ever since the terrible update months that were April, May and June. July might be enough to resubscribe, but that's heavily dependant on if I can find a job before then or not. Statistically I'm okay, maxed combat except...

It took me quite a while to notice them, but when I did they looked cute. Sorta like a bucktoothed fury.
