Re: User asking about patch and virus protection.
I hate AVG myself, I find it to be obtrusive and it seems to let a lot of bad things in. Avast Free is hardly better on the obtrusiveness factor (its extremely chatty), but it does seem more effective; even if you need workarounds to get BZ2 to work. MSSE is the least obtrusive of the lot but I don'...

Re: Green Heart Variant in ST/FFA
I used to like joining the AI team and fighting against a team of humans in 1.2. Usually the human team was comprised of low-quality MPI players and they would drop bricks when they were hunted down by an unusually aggressive "Team_Computer" ship. Funny thing was that at first, hosts didn'...

Re: raknet down again?
I assume that indie licences have a low entry cost (or in BZ2's case, basically none) and are based on units sold or cost tiered based on amount of traffic. Since BZ2 sells no units and its queries use little server resources, it's can be supported with minimal cost to Raknet. It probably shares a s...

Re: Installation Error
If the label side is damaged and it affects the reflective layer then you can't really do anything about that.

Re: VSR 5.0 Released
The Daedlians are meant to be balanced for multiplayer, and also are more challenging to play than the ISDF which has a far more straightforward teching path and is ultimately easier to grasp.

Re: VSR 5.0 Released
I'm pretty sure that vsrbasesetup is just an extensionless version of vsrbasesetup.cfg (there's a convoluted development reason why I did this). If you open it in a text editor like notepad it should be a text file. EDIT: Just realized that extracting directly to your BZ2 folder creates a SUBFOLDER ...

Re: VSR 5.0 Released
It's a problem with the release. We compiled scaled versions of shell configs but didn't test them properly prior to release. As a result using scaling factors greater than 1.0 will cause a crash on map load. You can turn shell scaling to 1.0 or you can unzip my fix to your BZ2 folder. See: http://b...

Re: relay bunkers
I got a question with regard to the use of relay bunkers in this release (uin mpi mod). On some maps the relay works as before but on other maps I get menu screen of sort instead of the satellite view. I the selection list on the top left there is the string "activate" listed, but i can r...

Re: How much of Battlezone can be 'borrowed'?
The term 'biometal' might not be under any trademark protections. It was used for a 1993 space shooter game as well as some obscure japanese Mega Man games. And also, technology for crysis-like suits? http://www.toki.co.jp/biometal/english/qanda.php UPDATE: Looked into the crysis suits thing and nop...

Re: VSRIB Project v 2.0 (near-final release) for 1.3.6.5
VSRIB 2.0 is not compatible with VSR 5.0 yet. Hopefully he'll release an update soon that makes it compatible with VSR 5 features.

Re: How much of Battlezone can be 'borrowed'?
"space war video game" would be difficult to copyright, considering how many games have such a theme. Pretty much.... a lot of them. I mean specifically using those names in a space war video game (so, context is important). I don't think the British Royal Navy would get sued if it named ...

Re: How much of Battlezone can be 'borrowed'?
I assume the names (e.g. John Cooke, Yalena Shabayev, Scions, ISDF, Biometal) in a 'space war video game' type context are protected by copyrights, but also fair-use laws (ie: so you can't sue someone for writing a saucy fanfic), the names of some of the planets, as planet names, are probably also p...
