i take everything the NYT says with a large grain of salt. they spout stuff that is always slanted to the socialist left.

if you taxed everyone in the top brackets 100% - yes, 100% - the federal deficit would only be reduced 10-14%.

it's not a case of income, it's a case of spending waaaaaaay more than they can possibly take in, but the NYT won't address that.

tax the business owners more and you can kiss whatever meaningful jobs that are here right now goodbye as they get shipped to 3rd world countries.

then the socialists will have completely wiped out the middle class with their exorbitant union wages and high government taxes and there will only be lower class panhandlers paying high taxes to support "social programs" and the rich politburo, which is the goal. i.e., the Nanny State.

Its not a solution, There are really only 3 solutions.
1. Israel stops its occupation.
2. Israel genocides the Palestinians .
3. Someone "destroys" Israel.
Solution 1 has not yet been tried and Israel clearly has no plans to try it.
Solutions 2 and 3 are more popular, both could quite easily happen.
2. Seems to be Israel's long term plan.
3. Could take the form of an effective Arms/economic embargo and UN enforcement, This is so unlikely to happen that it almost isn't worth mentioning.

What some nations don't seem to consider is that cheering on this sort of long term insanity-evolution will eventually result in one side or the other prevailing and then becoming a very serious problem for the rest of the world to deal with.

Not sure about that. The reason it still is a mess there is cause the western world pretty much accepts it.
Take a look at a bunch of other countries that didnt play nice in the fairly recent history, why did the western world interfear there but does it stay away from Israel?

I think if the western world would be ok with simply shoveling the Palestinians into some hole, it would happen in an instant and very few people would actually care beyond the 'oh, you cant do that to humans, but now I need to [...] and cant be bothered with it any more'.

Last time around they used a ground invasion to clear space for more settlements. Add to this, a lot of Americans were/are also racist against Middle Easterners. That really helps when dismissing the actual political situation there as "camel jockeys h8 freedom," but it comes down to money. AIPAC owns enough senators that nothing will ever happen as far as the US holding Israel accountable for any of their actions. They also like to target journalists.

When all that remains of your nation is a couple of large densely populated residential area's it's very hard to do anything else. Personally I find the Israeli propaganda quite disgusting. They have been attacking civilians and fighters alike for years. They are perpetrating a blatant "religious"/racist war for territorial gain.
