Zimbabwe has an opposition party known as the MDCZ, who had the majority at the last election before withdrawing. The flaw with Zimbabwe's democracy is that the ZANU-PF uses violence and the threat of violence to keep itself in power.

Nothing a little violence won't fix. Call in team America!
Who said violence would be involved? And who said America? :P

The original article indicated American interest, more violence would not be very helpful (as there is no economy to collapse). A large quantity of spontaneously wished into existence, but believed in $$$'s in return for some rare minerals and the permanent extermination of some of the nations natural wealth would probably do quite nicely Mr Mugabe Sir! It wouldn't really help Zimbabwe's economy at all, just tide the ruling elite over until they can rig the next election and help the US continue to ignore its serious unsustainable resourcing issues for just a little bit longer.

Ok. But if you need any violence, you just let us know. We provide sixteen thousand, one hundred and forty three distinct forms of violence, tailored to the situation at hand.

When you think violence, think America!

If there's ever any intervening to be done, you'll be hard pressed to keep the US out of it. In fact there's a good chance we're already intervening at that place you haven't even thought about yet.

A worrying tendency for dynasties? or something actually even more disturbing? Like only those who can afford the cost can actually even attempt to become a President. Its supposed to be about vision and votes, isn't it? I find it hard to believe that a political movement of that size cannot find an obvious leader type amongst its members. I guess the "corporate" mindset has come to dominate, and its more about promotion for someone who can afford the position rather than any real political vision. Stagnation...

When your electorate is composed primarily of morons, this inevitably results.

You nailed it:

"Michael Creel said Dykes kept to himself and listened to a lot of conservative talk radio.

“He was very into what’s going on with the nation and the politics and all the laws being made. The things he didn’t agree with, he would ventilate,” he said.

James Arrington, police chief of the neighboring town of Pinckard, put it differently.

“He’s against the government, starting with Obama on down,” he said."

Not all conservatives are crazy. >:(
I'm conservative, but I obviously know that what that man is doing is wrong. And I'm in Alabama, so this is really intense. The kid's birthday is this week also. So sad.

I would be willing to bet the ratio of crazy conservatives to sane ones is in line with the ratio of crazy liberals to sane ones, and with crazy humans to sane ones. But you don't hear it that way do you.

Well he's sure to achieve 1 of two things, either he gets himself killed, or he's going to get the dung kicked out of him on a regular basis by other prison inmates (those with children). :)
He may think he's a "conservative" but actually, as he has just shown, he is just a murderer, a criminal and insane. Conservatives everywhere should consider his example, before they go about their usual business of just making up lies about their opponents instead of holding any real considered rational political opinions.
If he really is a conservative, then he obviously supports the death penalty for people who commit the sort of crimes he just has, so he should stand up for his own beliefs, let the child go, judge himself to be guilty and then shoot himself in the head...

Man, you just plain have not seen the facts, or the campaign ads. The conservatives, because of their religious morality, often refuse to stoop that low and get slammed for perceived stooping. Other side has no such moral conviction and thus has free reign to lie about anything without consequence. Each side is held to their own morality, which makes it unfair.
