Just be aware that that in itself is a belief.Zenophas wrote:No, I'm putting my stamp of dissaproval on practicies that involve the physical harming of others, regardless of who's beliefs it urinates on.Red Devil wrote:so...you guys are putting your stamp of approval on frying innocent babies on red-hot metal plates, as long as you call it 'religion'?

Believing in something supernatural is different than any other kind of belief?

Doesnt seem like that is something you can place in 1 box ...

Faith is the belief in something despite lack of evidence. Moral belief is an entirely different animal.Clavin12 wrote:Believing in something supernatural is different than any other kind of belief?

Something may have evidence for it and not be scientifically proven.

Yet faith, by it's definition, requires neither proof nor evidence. It is based on apprehension (at least the organized kind of faith)Clavin12 wrote:Something may have evidence for it and not be scientifically proven.
But let's just drop it because we all know from experience that any discussion such as this that might offend some will get locked.

Re: Interesting article thread
Yes most theological topics get locked. Shame, it one of the subjects I like having a good discussion on. Some people don't want to read challenging idea's or just regurgitate whatever has been crammed in since birth. Thing is its dead tricky having a discussion about meaning of life universe and everything type stuff without religion, faith or lack of it, coming into it somewhere.
I sort of wish the moderators would at least leave them alone until the argument got heated enough to deserve a lock.

I understand what you mean. I'm just a bit taken back, seeing as I pick through hundreds of theological arguement/debate threads a year on Nationstates.MrTwosheds wrote:Yes most theological topics get locked.
