The DELICIOUS Recipe Thread
Figured I'd start a recipe thread for everyone to share their favorite recipes and talk about different types of food and whatnot.
Everyone loves food, (Unless you're anorexic), so, have at it!

Re: The DELICIOUS Recipe Thread
My staple. . .Cornish Hen! I do this about once a week.
-1 Cornish Hen
- Salt
- "Montreal Chicken" seasoning
-Olive Oil
-Prep time, 3 hours
-Interactive prep time, 5-10 minutes
-Cooking time ~50 minutes
Soak in cold, very salty water (brine) for two or three couple hours. Then remove and dry with paper towels.
Cut with poultry shears along the side of the backbone.
Lightly coat with olive oil, then sprinkled with the ground seasoning.
Spread the underside (ribcage down) on the grill, and set at medium to low flame. Tent with aluminum foil. Then flip after 20 minutes, tenting again. Place a small piece of foil on the grate under each leg to partially block the heat. Cook another 20 minutes and check. Will probably need ~10 minutes more.
The added novelty is they look a bit like the face huggers in Aliens.

Re: The DELICIOUS Recipe Thread
And here I was going to post my roast chicken recipe.
How about baked oatmeal then? It's a staple around here:
3 cups oatmeal
1 cup milk
1/2-1 cup sweetener (sugar, brown sugar, honey)
1 cup dried fruit (optional)
1 cup nuts (optional)
2 eggs beaten
1/4 c oil
1 tsp cinnamon
pinch salt
Mix up in a 9 x 13 or 8 x 8 inch pan.
Bake at 400 dgr F for 20-30 min.
Works well hot or cold with milk poured over top. Stores for about a week in the fridge. Large batches frozen are also supposed to work well.
I would convert to metric, but I figure y'all have the internet too.

Re: The DELICIOUS Recipe Thread
I still have to make rolled oats in the rice cooker. Any thoughts/experiences with that?

Re: The DELICIOUS Recipe Thread
Hmm. I haven't tried that, but I might because it's way too hot here to want to turn on the oven any more than necessary. I'll let you know what happens.Zax wrote:I still have to make rolled oats in the rice cooker. Any thoughts/experiences with that?

Home made Pad Thai is the best.... dry Pad Thai, not the American-ized sweet crap.

Bleeding Brain Grow
-1 human brain (yes, a human brain)
-1/4 tsp meat tenderizer
-1/4 cup olive oil
-1 quart unflavored vodka
-1/2 cup rosemary
-1/2 cup minced olive
-3 tbsp Sriracha spicy sauce
Stir the tenderizer into the vodka and place the brain into it. Wait 30-45 mins for the alcohol to absorb.
Remove the brain and pat it dry with paper towels.
Pour the olive oil mixed with rosemary and Sriracha spicy sauce onto the brain. Gently rub it into the crevices, but not hard enough to distort the brain.
Bake at 450 degrees for 30 minutes.
When it finishes, the brain should have grown at least 25% bigger and the red spicy sauce should leak out of the crevices, hence the name, "Bleeding Brain Grow."
WARNING: Consuming this dish may cause you to contract Kuru, an incurable and fatal progressive neurodegenerative disease.

Re: The DELICIOUS Recipe Thread
Crispy fried Jak Killer.
Dispatch a Jak in a manner that causes it to disintegrate into small chunks, Sp-stabber works fine for this.
Place chunks in a frying pan, add a splash of soy sauce, vinegar, a blob of butter and some chilli powder if you want it hot, Just enough of this mix to cover the bottom of the pan.
Lightly cook this, turning frequently until most of the liquid has been absorbed into the Jak bits and coloured them brownish.
Then drop into a hot pan of sunflower oil and fry until crispy. While this is cooking prepare your rice/pasta and vegetables in a sauce dish to your own liking, when it is done throw in the bits of crispy Jak, stir for a minute or so and then serve well away from living Jaks as they will try to eat it all and you too.

Re: The DELICIOUS Recipe Thread
What! Ok so some of you may find fresh Jak a bit hard to find, but the recipe is still nice with other things, Ice Rhino's a bit tough and blubbery though.
