I think it makes people wonder why we invite people from the places we're stomping on to live with us
No mystery there. Empires bring obligations with them, If you don't want your nation to become a "melting pot" don't go round interfering with other nations. Essentially these extremists are no different from our own home grown ones, they have hate they wish to express and they will find a justification that suits them, no matter how irrational stupid or obviously evil it clearly is.
The Nazi's are a great example, obsessed with their racial purity, they attempted to to create an enormous multi-racial empire based on their hate of everyone else in it...That such an illogical concept could really only ever fail does not seem to have occurred to them at all.

Looking a lot like the attack was motivated by anarchism rather than Islam.

Well, they did run the guy down with a car, get out, stab him repeatedly, remove his head (or close) and yell "allahu akbar" among other things... That isn't anarchism, that is either the strict ascribing to a literal interpretation, or two crazy ppl, or both. I think you should be less willing to jump away from a given cause. If this happened here in the US, people would be chicken **** to blame radical Islam.

The victim's head stayed firmly attached to his shoulders according to the more reliable of the sources I've seen, and there has as yet no firm line been drawn between their religion and the assault. They ran at armed policemen, expecting to be shot; not an unusual time to start praising your God.

That said, the evidence that was prevalent at the time of the previous post is different to the evidence available now.

I looked at this a bit more. They yelled this immediately after the crime well before running at armed police. Furthermore, they definitely ran the person down with a car. Video exists because people thought it was an accident and instead of helping, pulled out their cell phone cameras. I bet the only person to actually call for help either had 2 phones or his phone didn't have a camera.

Perfectly reasonable. Utility should take precedence over tradition.

Just got to persuade every computer/software manufacturer, printing press owner/publishers and everyone who can write in English etc etc etc that its a good idea and worth spending a few trillion $'s on updating everything, just to save us all the effort of typing two letters... and being legible. English northerners already have a better solution in just shortening it to T verbally. Hardly worth T trouble of changing T whole technology when T perfect solution is already long established.

Maybe Twitish will eventually become the global language... :)

No idea how northern you are, but you realise that in this "t'" thing isn't true in most cases? Most of the time the word is dropped entirely.

The ampersand has long stood as a 27th letter, it's just largely disregarded.

Aye, it was a poor attempt at humour :) Obviously this guy has no idea just how much stuff would need to be changed in order for him to write less coherently. Generally each language has its own character set, His Th symbol is already available to him in the Cyrillic set, but its a lot easier to type the extra he than go to the bother of loading it up every time you want to not type "the". Clearly there needs to be a new Twitish character set that twits can use it to be better missunderstood by everyone else :)

It would be very easy for a company like say 'Logitech' to create a keyboard that has the extra symbol under a key like they did with the €-sign .. which is a fairly new addition to the 'modern' keyboard.

Well the appearance of a major world currency is a fairly good reason to include a new character, some twits wanting to be able to write a bit more without exceeding their limit is not. It is actually quite bit more complex than just making a new keyboard.
Twitter users who want a new character on their keyboard can make their own character set. Set up a virtual nation, Twitzerland? and develop their own language Twitish, then the entire rest of the world can avoid the cost of having to redevelop all their equipment, software, websites and language translation by just ignoring it.
