League of Legends (LoL)

Post by Lionsword7 » Fri Mar 18, 2011 11:17 pm

Does anyone else play it in here? It's an RPG/Strategy hybrid.
-Gameplay involves 5 players on each team, each of whom wield characters named "Champions." The objective of the game is to destroy the enemy "Nexus", or HQ.
-To aid you in doing so, your Nexus spawns little soldiers called minions that relentlessly charge down one of three lanes, top, middle, and bottom. You are to aid them as they battle it out with other minions, getting gold and experience as you kill them.
-Your champion levels up as he fights, allowing you to upgrade 1 of 4 skills each time you level up, which aid you in battling.
-There are over 60 different champions to play as. Each week, 10 of them are free to play. You may buy champions to use as much as you want using in game currency or real money.
-Lanes are protected by a total of 3 turrets, each of which are very hard to take down without support. After the last turret in a lane is destroyed, you are free to attack the enemy "Inhibitor" of that lane. Destroying it will cause that lane to spawn Super Minions which are very powerful.
-This game is more than simple RTS. The 5 people on your team must work together to "gank" the enemy. Doing so will net you easy kills. This can make or break your team. Deaths cause you to wait to respawn, costing the enemy precious manpower.

Yes Nielk, I've posted this in Complex. But there are more active people here. ;)

I saw a girl with it on her computer, does that count?

I have it for Windows. Have a charactername. (Hint: It's broodhound)

Never fired it up, thought. Should get on that soon.

You should. The main problem I see with the friends list... is that since games take a while (~30 minutes depending on skill levels), and most people immediately search for a new game right afterwards, you have like a 3 minute window to invite your buddy to play a new game with you.

I played it yesterday, and it seemed weird.

Seemed like a HON clone.

HON? It's more a DOTA clone. Quite fun once you get used to it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heroes_of_Newerth

Heroes of Newerth (commonly known as HoN) is a science fantasy, action real-time strategy game developed by S2 Games for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. The game was heavily inspired by the Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne custom map, Defense of the Ancients and is S2 Games' first game title in the Dota genre.

That would explain their similarity; they're both based off of DoTA.

Yup. Gameplay seems dumb though.

Although maybe I'm just saying that because I'm no good.

Everyone sucks in the beginning. It's fun once you learn how to actually move your character to where you actually want him to go. Make use of hotkeys too.

Yeah, "WASD" not moving is annoying.
