Bionite is developed on UDK. You can't just port a project from one to the other, unfortunately.

Learn some grammar before you target others. Might make you look less stupid.

It might not be perfect but it's nowhere near bad enough to justify that.

On a similar note Valve has just announced Source 2 at the great price of free at GDC.

I am really liking this new model that lets the smaller devs use the top end tools, like Source 2 and UE4.
I am curious to see if Crytek is going to keep their subscription model on Cryengine as well or if they are going to follow the route of Epic and Valve.

Somehow I do believe its partly due to dwindeling sales. Seeing how a lot of small devs do not make it, probably also cause of high costs simply to get the basics going, they need something in order to keep sales up.
It seems to be happening more often as of late. Companies sharing 'knowledge', companies getting backed by private investers (crowdfunding), etc.

I'm not so sure if it will be all that great though (in the world of games mostly). When I look at Steam I can easilly mark 99% of the games as 'uninteresting', and that percentage seems to be increasing.

The more games out there, the more will be in the other 1%.

Yup, but unlike how you quoted me, there wasnt a period in my post where you have it in the quote. That bit is quite important for that general statement.

Oh please, you mean to tell me that with games like Air Control, Starforge, and Minecraft Knockoff #487 that the quality of games on Steam is decreasing? That's absurd, you're seeing things, as if a huge influx of games with minimal quality control could ever cause the gaming market to crash, hah, that's ridiculous and certainly hasn't happened at any point in recent history, you're making that up.

Not ridiculous: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Amer ... sh_of_1983

You are free to quibble about that not being "recent history"

I think having a situation where there is a lot of choice (even if its poor quality) is far better than a situation where a few contenders corner the market (consoles) and then fail to provide quality content. It is very hard to create an original game that people will love. The big organizations can throw as much $ as they want at a game, but that alone will not ensure that a good game is the result. Talent and creativity are resources that are very difficult to control. So don't try to. Free engines are the best way to drive creativity forward.

I neither believe that Steam will go the way of Atari nor that open source software for creating games is a bad thing. What I do think is a bad thing is the shear lack of quality control that would allow a game like Air Control to be sold for any amount of money.

I don't care if that was a "joke" or "troll" game, it was filled to the brim with stolen models, music, and other assets and the fact that it's creators actually made money is sickening. Steam needs to regulate what it puts on it's digital shelves before someone pulls something that has serious legal ramifications for the entire gaming market.
