QF: The Game

Post by bigbadbogie »

I'm working on a new Battlezone style game in Unreal Engine 4.

It will roughly continue the story of QF2: Essence to a Thief, cutting out all of the original Battlezone content.

It will be a stand-alone game.

Most of the major characters from QF2 will be returning.

Here's a quick preview of what I've been up to:

I used the QF2 tank as a stand in.

No QF2 assets will actually be in the new game.

Furthermore, it will be released for free, like a mod.

Wow that looks really good so far.
I'll be honest and say that I thought the new models in QF2 looked kinda out of place (the BZ2 engine didn't really give them justice), but in a new Engine like UE4 that tank model looks really good.
Good to see another project of this nature going on, I look forward to giving it a try in the future.

Very nice, we have two people making something in Unreal 4 now.

Mike Arkin was quite specific about it being a remaster rather than a Remake, so it seems likely that they're building on the same engine.

I must be the only person these days that actually doesn't like the Unreal engine...

Not saying the video or anything is bad, but there's something about Unreal that I can't place I just don't really like about it. But then again, most of today's engines I don't really like anyway.
If you happen to be looking through my posts, I have completely dumped all things related to Battlezone. Do not contact me, do not bother me. Been harassed enough as it is and am done entirely.

It's just a framework. With enough modification, it can be absolutely anything.

Extremely unlikely I would have thought.

No. He's been my main inspiration though. Some of the code that he put on the UE4 forums helped me a lot.
