I don't really think the idea of ship-possessing spirits would suit them. It makes little sense to me given the form in which they have entered mythology.

Reading the topic from start to finish I actually got the idea that was the intention, to quote how someone said it quite nicelly: more bio than metal.

Yeah they're kind of supposed to look like plants Josiah, but not nasty swarmlike plants.
