Here's another one of those threads that used to exist in BZU but has been lost somewhere in the mists of time. A list of races, sorted by letter.

The original version of this was intended for modders to use to help them select a race letter. Small text indicates subversions of races.

Very useful.
I had an odd occurrence in single player, having pspilo (Prador) in my addon, they suddenly turned up uninvited in the first mission on pluto. I think I will pick another letter for them, the last thing anyone wants is a bunch of evil cannibal Crab aliens sticking their claws into missions where they are not supposed to be. Now you have got me wondering if the Dark planet will have the same issue with Daleks.

Some prop ODFs in the Pluto missions need to be told they don't have pilots. You probably blew up one of those props.

I used G for Fury in BZC IA/MP.

BZ1 furies are H, BZC will use H for Ancient Hadean, F may be used for Scions if Scions are ever added, so I used G for BZ1 era Fury Race.

But it doesn't really matter since most of these race's mods are not compatible with each other anyway...


And WTF is Reich?

The Reich were official. Nazis with Biometal. From the same source as Unknown Pioneer, Trumann Era, etc.

BZC canon rating is listed as "100%: Appeared in official documentation". Nielk1 is waybacking them now.

if you use a custom cfg, you can use any letters for your race you want.

Not necessarily. V should be avoided. Likewise anything that can't be put in a filename

you can use v for any race you have in your search folders

It works, but we're (N1 and I) concerned it could potentially cause issues with virtual classes.

Virtural classes are just made up provide names.....the provides could say dillydonka and the game wont care....
