something is forcing me to desktop during gameplay, help!

Hi, it's just like the subject says, something is forcing me to desktop every 5 to 10 minutes and I can't figure out what's doing it. Has anyone had this kind of problem before? It's never happened to me before this patch came out.

One thing I could think of is that you accidentally touch your windows-key, has happened to me as well
Beyond that, sticky-keys?

It's not the windows key, I'm sure. It can happen when I'm nowhere near the windows key on my keyboard. Hell, it happened one time when I wasn't even touching the keyboard. I used the mouse exclusively one time just to see if I WAS hitting something that was doing it. Also, I can't find anything in my task manager that would be interrupting it.

Quite possibly an external program is 'stealing focus', as what happens with popup windows and some system tray notifications.

1) Does focus get stolen from any of your other programs, making you click on the window you were on? Or is it just bz2?
2) Are you reasonably sure that your computer is free of malware?
3) Any new programs installed between when the problem wasnt present and when it started occuring?
4) More specifically, is there anything which might emulate or otherwise effect control inputs? (e.g. new mouse/keyboard drivers, an IR blaster driver for a remote control, etc)

Hi Zero Angel,

1)No, It only happens while playing BZ2.
2)I'm pretty sure I don't have any malware, I just reinstalled Windows Vista 2 days ago. I made sure to get Mozilla Firefox, AdBlock Edge, and AVG antivirus first before visiting any websites.
3)I haven't installed any programs after installing and updating BZ2.
4)There's a program on my laptop that powers the touch-pad on it, but the way I'm using my laptop ATM is like a tower comp. I have a keyboard and monitor plugged into it so it works like a desktop. There's no way I would be able to hit the touch-pad.

I appreciate the help from you guys. I'm thinking the hotfix MIGHT be the problem. I'm debating on reinstalling BZ2 and not using the 1.3.6.4z6 patch, to test it out. I'll let you guys know if it works right or not.

It's not bad when you know how to work with it, but yea, it's not one of the best windows out there.

it's a laptop? using an external kb and monitor? check your new windows power settings and power supply/cable/connection and battery drain.

also, avg has been known to interfere with bz2; ms security essentials doesn't and it's free.

I used to do that too, but leaving the laptop plugged in and running 24/7 (no hibernate, just suspend) as well as the heat created from doing so literally killed the battery.

Most laptop batteries will die in a few years anyhow. If you're leaving your laptop plugged in for long periods, it's recommended that you remove the battery.

Well, AVG was the problem. It was stealing focus for some reason. I think I'm going to complain to AVG about that, it's annoying as hell. Thanks again Red Devil!
