Most of the time you can tell MPIers by spamming 20 gun towers around their base. Now, i do not claim to be a pro, it has been too long since i played, so most active strat players can wipe the floor with me. Now, most of those playing mpi then hosting a strat just don't understand how strat works. I almost never make towers in base, i always go for map domination like everyone else then try to get sabers/warriors up etc, but you get flamed and called a nub for "not making defenses first". You try to explain that by the time you make a gun tower the other team will have chains = they get the pools = they win, but you get called a n00b again and sometimes kicked (this happened to me the other day). So not that i want to flame or anything but those people sometimes act in a way that makes a person tell them very, very ugly things. And yes, i won 90% of the games in the past few days vs a commanders that play MPI most of the time. Bottom line is that most of them do not want to listen.

Nielk, i would agree with what you say. There were always arrogant flamers in BZ, for as long as i can remember. It only gets down to how thick is someone's hide and how willing they are to try something new. Playing vs ai when you can have a strat is beyond me. I can understand that people have some issues with self-certianty (or w/e is the english term for it) so they are afraid to try strat. But look at me, i'm a nub now and i go for strat only (dm if no strat), no other way to get better at the game.

It isn't that they prefer the AI opponent but that they prefer the slower game, or the less WIN WIN WIN oriented game, or etc etc.

When i play STRAT with friends I make it a point that none of us do the normal 'rush to tech A' tactic and instead all try to do something new. For me, that is more fun. If I did that in a STRAT game with a lot of these major Stratters and self proclaimed VETs, they would chase me out (and have, granted, I was under an alt).

Lets get off this topic before someone comes in and flames again and digress to talking about the past and see if we can find some more of the responsible stable older players to bring back.

Ah, but then you get rushed and destroyed by the inferior team for having no defenses.

No patch will ever fix the problem of players dropping; it is what modern gaming has become.
So true, even some of the very vocal persons posing as experienced bz2 strat players round here, will suddenly quit when their initial plan of "shoot em all down and destroy their base before they actually build it" does not work out the way they thought it would. This neatly hides their lack of knowledge of the more advanced strategies required to win in the late game scenario.

LOL, yo nielk - how about you try something new and play strat for a try?
The fact that people get up "tech A" so fast doesnt mean, they dont dominate the whole map. When you get a majority of the pools you build tech, you want to build it fast since it is a VITAL point in the game - "trying" something new comes into the game when you for example go for Walkers straight instead of dropping chains first. Therefore your point is definitely not valid, since you need tech to do something, and you need a reasonable amount of map control to get that tech. Isn't it logic that any commander struggles to get that tech first?

Therefore when you say trying something new instead of "rushing" for Tech A i think of people who drive in circles around their rec, since there is nothing else to do, you wont win the game with mini turrets.

The way these guys always go off about "if you played..." leads me to the conclusion they are all terribly lonely and just want a new friend :'(
