just noticed this in your log:

DIAG| GamespyVoice:133 |20:54:43|3000 |UHOH - tried to set up voice capture device, but failed. :(

you have Gamespy Comrade or something like it running in the background?

I am not sure about privacy/background apps - what are these? but I am running Win7, not Win10.

basically, a bunch of microsoft utility/media/communications programs that run in the background in order to data mine/so they can poke their nose in your business and sell your info for ads/keep tabs on you.

Linux OS are for people who do not wish to become an unwitting data source in a proprietary software network and are prepared to be their own "administrator". I have been pleasantly surprised by the capabilities, the security and the freely available software for Linux Mint. I am struggling to find any reason to allow Win 10 to pointlessly occupy half of my 2 terabyte disc. Meanwhile I understand that people concerned for their privacy are going to have to get into the habit of turning the "spying" back off again after windows updates occur. Personally I am not concerned about "spying". I am concerned about the whole direction MS are going in. I have less control over win 10 than any other OS I have ever used and as far as i can see it's "security" is still just a bad joke.

Ok, so, can someone answer the following questions, one by one:

1. What are the relationships between 1.3.7.0 alpha and the Coxxon's Remodelled? How they affect each other? What I need to do to install and use both?

2. Is there a way to use Remodelled images but keep default game parameters: gun ranges, repair rates, etc.? These settings are good for BZ2 (and make it more balanced) but also make most of mod SP missions too difficult (FE, QF, Uler, BZ Classic).

3. If I install 1.3.7.0 alpha together with Coxxon's Remodelled, what are the correct *.cfg files for mods? I have placed references to the Remodelled *.pak files into them but is this enough?

4. When I try to play any of the mods (except BZ Classic) in SP mode under 1.3.7.0 the game crashes. Can I do something with it?

1: Coxxon's Remodeled is just another mod, it should work fine on any of the newer patches, and any future patches.

2: Unfortauntely, the remodeled models used in the mod are not compatible with Stock model textures. So you have two options: A: Use Coxxon's HQ Texture pack with stock, doesn't cause bad assets, can easily be enabled or disabled. Or B: Take apart Coxxon's Remodeled, put all the models, textures, and some animation bits from his ODF's into stock odfs and keep everything else stock, which is essentially creating a new variant mod that only uses the models. Probably best to let Coxxon handle that. I'll give him a poke about it.

3: Coxxon's remodeled comes with a CFG which should work on any recent 1.3 patch.

4: Depends on the mod. Some mods are old, and were created and launched for the version that was available at the time. When the mission is loading, watch the progress bar, and depending on where it is when it crashes, is what is wrong: A: "Loading Interface", this means that a .cfg hud ui element is broken and needs repair. B: "Loading Objects" This means that some object saved on this bzn has been changed too much since the bzn was created, and is no longer compatible. In this case, one must isolate which object is causing the problem, temporarily revert that object back to it's previous state, load the BZN, delete the object, remove the temporary revert, then reload the BZN and re-place the object. This is most likely the cause, though the 1.3 patch itself should not cause this, as it's assets try very hard not to change too much. If you're trying to combine mods then it might cause problems like this.

Post the logs of the crash. That contains useful information for people who may want to help you. Without logs, we're just speculating blindly.

I want to know how exactly how I need to modify the FE, Uler, QF *.cfg files to use Remodelled images.

Most of the images are not compatible, as they use different UV mapping coordinates.

Again, you would need to extract the .MSH and .DXT files from the Remodeled, and incorporate them into a stand alone addon pack, then put that into a desired addon folder (such as FEAddon or QFaddon or stock addon). And even then, all the non-stock model animations would not play without going through and manually editing each object's ODF, which ODF to modify depends on what mod(s) you want to effect. I have emailed Coxxon and asked him if he could make a stock compatible version of his Remodeled pack.

Coxxon's HQ Texture pack, on the other hand, is compatible with stock models, and you would simply install that into the desired addon folder and wala, it should work.

I was using Linux Mint and wine a while back. I haven't booted it up in a while. I'll have to see if the latest wine version works with bz2.

1.6 I believe was the last compatible version.

I too an not a fan of the direction MS has been going. You can't even turn Windows Updates off, not even on Pro, from what I've read.

progrressor: try adding the lines for the bzIIremodeled folders in front of the other folders and the bzIIremodeled pak files in front of the other pak files.

i found this about updates in win 10 pro.

i can defer updates being installed for a few months, but they still download (except for security updates, which always happen in w10 ) i saw that the number one cause for problems in windows is people not updating windows.

found this about disabling updates (registry edits):

http://www.bing.com/search?q=Stop+Updat ... &FORM=R5FD

from what i can see, ms edge isn't a resource hog like firefox is, but i don't have any addons (they aren't available or allowed atm anyways) so i am slowly going to transition to it.

I'm getting the same thing. I've tried Fleshstorm, QF Mod, and Fleshstorm 2 on both 1.3.6.5 and 1.3.7.1 and 1.3.7.2. On 1.3.6.5, they work fine, but on 1.3.7.1 and 1.3.7.2 BZ2 crashes every time a mission is ended, either through success, failure, or abort.

I suspect it has to do with the BZ2 DLL scriptor. All of the above mods used it to create the DLLs for their missions. I tested out creating a simple script with the DLL scriptor that succeeds the mission after a second, and it works fine on 1.3.6.5, but on 1.3.7.1 it crashes when the mission finishes.

yes, the scriptor is only good for 1.2. i've updated it for 1.3 locally, but there are still some functions that don't work still.
