Recycler Variants in multiplayer?
Hello BZ community,
I was playing with a user named KK on BZ last night and he had the Greenheart variant pack.. he had rocket towers, the intimidator and such. I started my own server with my bro (2 separate computers, same house) and chose the green heart variant that came with PB6. There were no difference to stock units, building, ets. Is there something I'm missing? Also could someone give me the links too other variants? I can't seem to find any on google, or on BZscrap. Thanks for the help this awesome community can give me!

Re: Recycler Variants in multiplayer?
select an MPI map, click on the map options button, look through the pages there
Re: Recycler Variants in multiplayer?
Does it have to be MPI? The variant say's it's for ST/FFA maps.

Re: Recycler Variants in multiplayer?
IIRC, the MPI variant has more stuff in it, that was left out of ST variants due to balance reasons
Try in console while in game lobby: network.session.svar5 "ivrecyghb"

All he is asking about is how to get utility con and then the added towers.
First build the Tech center(ISDF) then build the utility constructor. At that point you can upgrade powers and build towers and other things like the Assult bay with the utility con. For Scion I think you build almost the entire base except Dower, then you can build the utility builder etc.

Be very careful of the names of recyclers. Variations such as A, B, C, ST/FFA, MPI, etc can have minor or large differences for reasons of balance or uncreative naming.

this is why I add a number like 023 to the end of most of my smaller ODFs.Nielk1 wrote:Be very careful of the names of recyclers. Variations such as A, B, C, ST/FFA, MPI, etc can have minor or large differences for reasons of balance or uncreative naming.

do remember that it's a bad idea to end an ODF in a number, as it may be used inadvertently by the engine in multiplayer.

Re: Recycler Variants in multiplayer?
I have only numbers for small parts of mulit odf weaponss like my thunder storm wich has 3 main odfs each with five sub odfs.General BlackDragon wrote:do remember that it's a bad idea to end an ODF in a number, as it may be used inadvertently by the engine in multiplayer.
I have 3 versions of it so I kind of run out of letters. but all of the things in my mod end with "_SC" so I don't think I will have any problems as long as I don't reach the 32 character lemit set by the engine.

Re: Recycler Variants in multiplayer?
cool.
I also believe the 1.3 upped the name to 255 chars for ODF names...I think.

Re: Recycler Variants in multiplayer?
It's about 55-58 characters in current 1.3.

Re: Recycler Variants in multiplayer?
the question is does the ".odf" come into play. Hence the range.

PB4: 68q1
- Bumped pretty much all 16-byte buffers for strings (e.g. ODFs) to 64
bytes. (Some audio filename fileds accepted 20, 24, or 32 chars,
bumped all of them to 64 bytes also).
