Wow, I now understand the mindset of all these ignorant people. Please, everyone this is directed to and everyone just witnessing this, bear with me. This is not an attack, just the most straight forward way I can put this:

The 1.3 public beta builds have and always will be beta, incomplete, with bugs, meant to be tested. The choice to actually settle in and mod/play strat/play mpi/build a community around one phase in development is your choice but due to the nature of the patch it is the wrong choice. Yes, each of the previous builds was better/worse at one thing than its predecessor and usually the build after the last fixed all previously existing issues only to bring up new ones, which is completely expected.

This isn't like 1.2 which is an unofficial patch that was pieced together by Pandemic and released as is. This is a labor of relative kindness/OCD which can overall only get better. Will there be builds that just don't work as expected, oh yeah. Will there be the builds that work well enough for us to think that we got it right enough to just leave as is and be forever done with it, possibly.

Point stands that these builds will have bugs and are meant to be tested though gameplay by the public so that when the time does come, the release of the 1.3 unofficial patch will reflect a stable build that will last for 10 more years instead of something rushed out the door with bugs galore and that would leave the game incompatible with the ever changing technological landscape as is the case with both the old patches and the older builds of 1.3.

Now please, with this in mind, just download the patch, get in a game like you normally would with any other build/patch and look for oddities, post what you did along with a log and after you have done this, go on with playing whatever obsolete build/patch you are accustomed to while you rage until the next build to repeat the process.

We are working feverishly to figure out the cause of the hubbub. From what we've witnessed, it will not occur in games of 4 players or less, but upon a 5th joiner, the game becomes unstable.

Word of the day- LOGS! A single log that captured those "Uh-Ohs" and the "MW Lag Noticed" or "-player- is lagged (x) seconds" can help immensely. They get straight to the root of the issue for the most part so we don't have to guess. If you can get the log from every player in server (IE perspectives) at the time, even better.

Do I need to put this over a fresh install?

-.-

I have all of my settings the way I like it and all of my addons and other things set up perfectly... So can this just be extracted onto 1.3pb6. I'm think it can because it's not that big of a change and others could do it but I just want to make sure because GSH didn't say weather or not it's possible -.-

Anyways.... I'm gonna have a lot of time after next week (I graduate :D) so I'm gonna have a lot of time to play, if you guy's need to test things with lots of players and don't have enough, just ask me, I was bored one day and discovered that my siamese twin make shift home server computer/s can run many battlezone 2 windows (I don't think this is normal, I have never been able to do it before... I tried... I got about 20 open before it crashed...), and I can put them all in one match hosted over my home network instead of internet to rule out normal internet lag if it's a problem with something unrelated to internet...

You have to point the 1.3 installer to a directory containing (at a minimum) bzone.exe and data.pak. The 1.3 is a *patch* installer, so it must be given a directory containing a previous BZ2 install. Preferably one from CD.

I seem to have misplaced my BZII install disk and I want to know if I can install using the backup copy I made several years ago. I think I'm going to focus on actually playing BZII for a while as I'm kind of burned out making models and props for the the game. Thanks.

As long as you don't make copies for distribution, any copy of any media is protected under fair use for archival purposes.

Unless you have to break the encryption (not in the case of BZ2, but in the case of DVD movies often) to make the backup. Then you are in violation of that cockup of a law the DMCA,

I'll eventually locate the original, but I want to install the lasest beta so I can start playing again; I haven't actually done this in quite a few years. I also have up to BZ FE installed. The other beta's I don't plan on messing with as it's more or less a waste of valuable disk space. My current drive only has 40 gigs total and most of that is devoted to the models I produced for BZII. PS: If anyone needs an existing model for their own use then let them know that I have a ton of stuff that I'm not sure whether to keep or not. Thanks.

Just find the cd in your windows explorer, right click and choose to "explore" then find the setup folder and double click it. Then double click the setup.exe. Join Windy and I in a game of G66 here and there. Look up G66 at link below. And my video on how to make a shortcut to run it below.

Thanks, I got everything installed okay and wanted to know when the most players are playing? I'd like to try my hand at some DM action, but I guess some team strat would be nice if I can get on a team. I follow orders okay and would like to play some time. I'm on MST and usually play in the mornings because of my overnight work schedule. Later.
