He's talking about the message in PB6 MP that says "you do not have the newest patch, go downlaod here"

GBD was talking to Zax, not you. He means *you* were talking about that message.

It looks from what I can see that the patch is defiantly usable so I guess I will download it.

Just one compleatly stupid, noob question, To make a seperate install, where do I go again?

To make a separate install, just install from CD again, and pick a different install (destination) folder. Then patch up that.

in that case i believe you are saying there is no need for the 1.3 patches, 1.2, 1.1, and all the way to NO PATCHES

it is a PATCH, not a PERMANENT REPLACEMENT. GSH will come out with a new patch, and hopefully it wont have bugs, and this whole mess will be over.
and if you are somewhat "allergic" to these bugs, go play some instant action. ive tried them out and they have no bugs whatsoever...

There's a need for some 1.3 patches and such.
I could totally tell the difference between BZ version 1 and 1.3PB5.1
It was impressive. 6 was not as impressive, but still cool.
I'm saying that there's no reason for 6.1. Not every other patch.
6.1 just seems like a staller until 7 and we don't need those kind of "unstable builds."

You don't like it, go back to pb5.1 or 6. The testers that do their part, which is a minimal amount, do so on their free time and for free. GSH works on 1.3 for free. You aren't paying squat and apparently aren't willing to contribute squat in terms of testing, where the team has out-right failed. Noone is stopping you from going back to pb6 or pb5.1, just yourself.

If this patch is a complete failure, you have the 1.3 testing team to thank.

^This.
I'll download 6.1 just because of the MP, but I'm worried about what it will affect in MP and SP!
I'm thankful that the testers give their time, but I don't get why they would give their free time to make something unneeded!
I'm not trying to be difficult and I still support the community, but I'm still stating my opinion.

Why can't pb6 be played? PB6 was released because gamespy took down all games using the old gamespy protocol. PB6 uses the new protocol so it will have longer term support than pb5.1. Unfortunately pb6 had lagout bugs which is why there is a 6.1.
