1.3.6.4w - OPEN BETA & TESTING

Download this and unpack over your existing 1.3.6.4 install's exe. This is a quick patch that re-enables construction rig upgrades and other tweaks

If you can, please install and test this. I think that this build is about 99.9% of what I want to put into a 1.3.6.5 release. Your best chance of having bugs fixed for 1.3.6.5 is to report things on the 1.3.6.4 series. Logfiles -- battlezone.log and chatlog (if enabled) -- are useful. Otherwise, reporting things in a way that makes them happen here is best.

- Construction rigs can upgrade once again
- Much work to make griefers less able to annoy people
- Anyone can now ban anyone at any time - if you're a client in a game, you can ban a host or another client. Anyone you've banned who's hosting a game won't show up on the list of servers. Anyone you've previously banned who is a client in a game you joined is now warned about
- CUT the 1.2-style physics craft variants. The 1.3 patch series does not encourage that monoculture of overpowered scouts. Learn to explore the tech tree.
- Tweaked session registration and browsing to hopefully work around antivirus with overactive web shields better
- Chroming of objects is now SSE-powered for greater performance
- Tracked vehicle physics ought to be more solid. BZ2's collision code is still garbage, though
- On players leaving in a teamplay game, their units are redistributed to remaining players to avoid orphanage
- Upscaled shell fonts to look less klunky at large resolutions - note that this will require mods with custom extra options pages to also be upscaled
- Ingame UI can be upscaled by a preference - see graphics options, page 2, bottom right
- Input smoothing option from Ken, also pathing system tweaks and particle render from him.
- MP escape screen chat should scroll better

Also, did work to ensure that skydomes with more than 1 chunk of
geometry should render correctly. And, added to .trn files:

Just the thing to get me inspired again! I tried so many times to make nicer skydomes, always to be thwarted by the geometry shredding thing.

Good riddance and the "aww man feeling" conflict each other right now. Brought some fun at the beginning of the game, but after a while it serves no purpose.

1.2 variants have almost entirely been superseded by VSR now anyway.

I can't test if AVG's Identity Protection is blocking BZ2 anymore since AVG pissed me off so much I ripped it out of my computer. Someone else will have to take a look at that.

Those uhohs are things I added to track down the the cause of the various hearing sound effects one shouldn't, etc. Never been able to figure out how they're triggered. Can you recall how you entered the game, etc? From the logs, it was MPIBane01.bzn , and you might have been the third or fourth player in the game?

Just played a quick MPI with TubbuT.

1)- Thank you GSH!
2)- Collisions by vehicles into buildings (and stick) are still common. I can more easily push them away however.
3)- Tub was complaining about slower ships, but I didn't seem to notice. Same feel to me.
4)- If engaged, AI units still ignore commands.
5)- Raknet appears to be displaying games better (can see list of players in game, & no ???). Dif font as well in shell which I LIKE.
6)- no lag whatsoever, but it was only 2 of us. hoping to test 5v5 soon (w/ rejoins).
7)- I suggest dating your 'Latest Patch' lobby server message (Release 10-27-2013). 5 other games were up and playing 6.4n.
8)- Maybe start utilizing Raknets ability to distribute beta patches automatically?

9)- Can we try and reduce the mouse input latency? This has always been an issue for me (making it hard to aim in dogfights). I prefer to play BZ2 on highest graphic settings. Playing on low settings eliminates most mouse input lag but unappealing. My specs: Windows 8 64bit - i5 3570K @4.5Ghz - 8GB DDR3 - Asus GTX 660 - Logitech G100s gaming mouse (running 700dpi - 500 polling rate).
10)- in game resolution setting (for HUD) and control smoothing once enabled are great. I can finally easily read in game messages and view my units easily at 1080p (i like the 1.5x setting). Mouse aiming is now alot smoother (once enabling control smoothing under PLAY options) which makes it easier to aim. Input lag is still present at high resolutions though, but better.

It was mpi sub zero, the big one. I was the 4th player. GH variant with thug recyclers. It had already been going for some time when I joined.

Juggernaut-
2) BZ2's collision code still stinks to high heaven. Had to run on a Pentium 166 MMX. It's garbage, and I know it. Not easy to change
3) Unlikely anything changed, unless the removal of the 1.2-style ships (see above, removal of that monoculture from stock) is that's felt
4) Unlikely to change anytime soon, too risky
5) See readme13.rtf - the ??? on server info is completely dependent on whether the host has ports forwarded (manual or UPNP). If it's behind a NAT, it still shows ???.
6) Dependent on the host, players, as before
7) Eventually - making sure the patch works. Tracing down MTS's issue will resolve a bunch of weirdness seen by players
8) Harder to do that, with admin access,etc
9) Not without rewriting the entire input system. Graphical resolution shouldn't affect anything unless it's bogging down your system, which seems unlikely
10 Glad to see someone likes the upscaled UI in game/shell.

Everyone I talked to likes the upscaled UI :)
There may be a small issue with the map, the green blobs and line locating the units position and heading now seem to be relatively bigger than they used to be, making it difficult to see whats going on when units are near each other. The heading line seems smaller.

sorry for the bad info here; that was the old way:
but it helps to scale the minimap bigger using the settings in gameprefs/localprefs or console commands

do this instead:

As noted in the changelog, *prefs.ini no longer does this. What you should be doing is looking at the Cmd("...") items at the bottom of addon\config\game\bzgame_init*.cfg -- look in sub-folders for the upscaled bzgame_init items. Make your edits to those files, that won't cause bad assets.
