There is a new sub-build of 1.3.7.1 to be installed over 1.3.7.1: download. This re-introduces 3D audio to BZ2, though with a different underlying library (XAudio 2).

To install: Unpack the contents of this .zip over a 1.3.7.1 install.

Note: if you get a missing DLL error on startup, please browse into the Redist\DX9 folder, and re-run the DirectX setup in there.

Vearie reported that neither shotSound or first person morphing audio are working for him.

Both work for me, so I'm guessing they may not be playing nice with certain drivers or sound cards.

Check battlezone.log for lines mentioning 'Xaudio2'

Verie had a correction.

He discovered his effects volume was too low.

He did report another issue.

According to Vearie "the new 3d sound system for certain audio (such as ordnance in air) is insensitive to sound effect volume."

"If you set your effects volume to 10%, the ordnance sfx will still sound like it's 100%.

He also reports "pitch does not change nearly as much as it did in 1.2". I'll have to ask him to elaborate on that.
