What? I can play BZ2 multiplayer without internet connexion or third party program, all i use is the native TCP/IP protocol.
So if it's true that it's a "netcode implementation problem", it's clearly a volountary fact (as the fact it's on Steam).

That's great and all, but you're comparing apples and oranges. BZ2 and BZCC use different systems. This is a (hopefully temporarily) trade-off for fixing various network issues that BZ2 suffered, and it has a frankly minimal impact.

This part confuses me. Would you prefer developers shoot themselves in the foot by not using the biggest and most popular sales platform PC gaming has ever seen?

For me, be on Steam is clearly not be PC.
Steam is the death of video-games.
I suppose discussion if off.
If one day BZCC is 100% DRM-free, feel free ton contact me and i will maybe considering buying it, only for found some strangers on the metaserver, who are not playing the original game.

Even though that's not what Rebellion are doing here, I must be honest - I don't see an immediate problem with publishers taking relatively gentle and unintrusive steps to ensure that people who want to play their game are doing so legally. It's when they start doing things like requiring a connection to a server to authenticate a game's offline portions or locking down the game after a certain date that it actually becomes a problem.

So you consider LAN as Online and DRM required...

What is so bad about Steam/GOG?

Steam is probably the best implementation of DRM there is, making it easier for people to buy games rather than pirate and GOG's downloads are all portable without activation or anything.

BZCC is the culmination of 15+ years of hard work from the community finally getting larger recognition on 2 great platforms; I've lurked around here for years and years downloading and playing each new patch and its amazing to see this final result - I really cannot comprehend how someone can complain so much.

That is exactly the opposite of what I said. My last post has nothing to do with BZCC at all and I made that very clear when I said "that's not what Rebellion are doing" in the very first sentence.

So you place Rebellion in the second case you described: "they start doing things like requiring a connection to a server to authenticate a game's offline portions or...[]."?

Once again, the post that quote is taken from was entirely unrelated to the discussion of BZCC. If you're going to making posts under the assumption that it is then I can't respond with anything but repeating that over and over again.

So, no - as mentioned in this post and fully supported by this one, both of which you should have already read, that's not the situation at all. This is a technical issue, not a DRM one.
