Volume and multiplayer voice

Post by appel »

I have two issues that bother me a lot. I like to listen to music in Winamp whilst playing BZ2. Ever since multiplayer voice was added this has been somewhat buggy.

Whenever I start BZ2 my Winamp volume goes way down, but when I exit BZ2 the volume goes back up.

It should be at max, but running BZ2 moves it automatically way down. I have to alt-tab to fix this, in order to enjoy the music.

And then there's this multiplayer voice hell. Whenever I play music I see this (T) blinking like bats out of hell, indicating I'm probably sending voice, while I'm not. While I enjoy my music I don't think others do. How the heck do you shut this feature OFF? I see lots of sliders, but nothing to disable MP voice on my end.

Every time I bring up this issue I'm just shrugged away.

select another sound device for bz2 playback and recording other than windows default in the bz2 sound options (2nd page). windows default device gets its volume turned down when bz2 starts.

for the (T), that indicates when your mic is active. sounds like the mic input is being used for playback instead of recording. others have done the same thing.

"Every time?" Never seen a posting like this here. No need to bring the angst.

BZ2 does not reduce other apps one bit. Stop blaming it. Instead, blame Microsoft for trying to be "helpful." See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library ... s.85).aspx for how to tweak the attenuation.

As to transmitting sound, go look in BZ2 at Options -> Sound -> Page 2. Top-left option, "Record my voice during MP game" [On] [Off]. If you have suggestions to how to reword that to make it clearer, feel free to propose wording that fits.

I was wondering why when I run multiple instances the other instances get really, really quiet.

Huh.

Okay, it's fixed.

I was just using the default software settings in the game, never realized changing it to hardware would affect anything like this.

I also tried to turn off the mp voice, but they somehow just reverted. But now works.
