Rocket tanks have become stupid

Post by Feldheld »

They used to attack airborne targets automatically but now they often just sit there and need to be commaded to shoot at bombers. I tried giving them a scout as company but it didnt help.

It seemed to me that this passivity mostly happens in early game. With more units crowding the place they seem to wake up and do their job as intended.

Be sure NOT to tell them to Hold. If you do, Rocket Tanks will not auto engage air targets.

Also haven't had the problems you describe. The only way I can get RTs *not* to shoot at the bomber is to distract them, hide in a blind spot and let the bomber do its thing. Those of us who play strat also typically equip the RTs with hornet which has much better range so the RTs have more time to react.

I always equip hornet on my RTs, and of course I ruled out the "natural" reasons like enemy stuff hidden behind terrain elevations or own stuff blocking the sight.

Maybe it has something to do with the "unofficial expansion pack" Im trying out mostly ATM.

It could easily be the UEP. The content in that is by no means ready for release. Maybe try uninstalling it and waiting until it's finished and the rest of us are ready to release it.

UEP Prerelease is not recommended for strat due to bad assets errors that it causes when you join strat maps that are a part of other 3rd party map packs (ie: 1.3 Strategy Map Pack, Standalone UEP Map Pack). However, some of the features that are otherwise available via LMM can be ported to your stock 1.3 installation by copying certain folders (ie: newkeys, glow skins, audio packs) into your addon folder.

Have you tested out whether 'hold fire' is indeed the cause of RT passivity?

I played only MPI and IA matches using this pack. "Hold fire" cant be the culprit. I mostly send my units to their destinated spot via the "drop off" button. I only use "hold fire" if I want them to change their target in case theyre focused on something out of reach.

Just checked, RTs work just fine when told to hold.

Guess I'm hallucinating again.
