Gamespot is what I had in mind.DuoRanger wrote:well gamespot still has a good article about bz, maybe if someone post there, There's steam forums too
Have another idea or two in mind, as well.
Re: Somethings that bug me about the BZ1 community...
Perhaps somebody should slip into the article that BZ2 is also still going strong
Re: Somethings that bug me about the BZ1 community...

E-mail them about it? No idea.

register and add the other forum/sites too. Or ask some of the already registered users to do it for you.

Re: Somethings that bug me about the BZ1 community...
Hello..old timer here (Thinking2hard and a few other names - mostly active 1999-2001),
Apologies for the thread necro, but 'revive BZ' threads always get me going as I'm sure many of you know, there have been many ;o)
Kinda shocked that the only thing that stopping servers.dat from getting ALL available servers is whether it is read-only or not.
With regards to getting people interested in BZ1 (I can't comment on BZ2..I've barely played it)..many things have been suggested which are good. I do have a couple of ideas of my own but one thing that would be good would be to have a central hub that is consistently and well managed (I'm thinking Colonel Failure's BZF for those who can think that far back), with access to files that are 'stock' and not tied to a particular site or person and howtos to get things working in various OSes for both 1.4 and 1.5 (until 1.4 is really deaded).
The YT LP idea is good, I have done some playthroughs..views have gotten into the hundreds and these are just me playing through TRO and (kinda) BZ1 without commentary. Perhaps if anyone knows a proper LPer who has a reasonable subscriber list and is willing to play BZ1/2 through? I will continue to do my playthroughs and I will link to this forum FWIW.
IMHO, I don't think the preponderance of BZ 'installers' is particularly good - I am sure that such installers are as just as legally problematic as distributing original CD images and all they do at the moment is to (a) make BZ installation look well dodgy to new people and (b) further fragment the community (with locked servers.dat and custom units etc). As I said before..a central hub with files and howtos would look much better.
Obviously, what would really help in BZ would be for the squabbling to stop and to all work in one direction, but for some reason BZ1 has always been a fractious place, which is a shame.
Regards

Pretty cheesy game. Mostly like a fat guy locked in Spock's basement for testing.Red Devil wrote:i've never tried/played BZ1 due to all the reports of stupid stuff going on.

If Battlezone was cheesy, it wouldn't still be played almost 14 years after it was released.
Battlezone is indeed a Great game.

Then again, if you let other people define your gaming experience, then you've lost years ago.
