Battlezone .VDF Files
How does one go about opening these? I heard that Max 10 can't, but Max 9 can, is this true or ?

Did the dummysworld say they were for max 10?

Yeah but for some reason they still don't do anything, might consider getting max9.General BlackDragon wrote:Did the dummysworld say they were for max 10?

POS program, but what you can do is make sure all GEO are in same folder as VDF when importing VDF. Better yet, import all GEO separately. Fun? Absolutely. Exporting is more fun: just place items where they will be, export to GEO (don't worry about VDF loader moving the parts, but you must link them together using that and give the parts their identities). Animations? Tough, they will be lost. Not a problem if doing a tank or whatnot.
Re: Battlezone .VDF Files
actually, the max 2010 geo importer does NOT work; you'll have to use the vdf importer...
Re: Battlezone .VDF Files
Tell Blake about it so he can fix it.
I'll try max 2010 and see what happens for me.
Also it would be nice if Blake released the full importers/exporters project files and not just the c++ file. It would be good to learn from.

Re: Battlezone .VDF Files
The vdf files DO import to max 2010 however the geo import failed to show any verts or faces for any object imported.
Re: Battlezone .VDF Files
I asked him for recompilation for 2012 edition but never got a reply. Maybe he's doing it, maybe he doesn't really care anymore, and if that's the case I can't really blame him. I messed around in 2012 but it is just so...different.Apollo wrote:Tell Blake about it so he can fix it.

Re: Battlezone .VDF Files
Well in order to keep recompiling it, he needs the current sdk from autodesk, his old job i think helped out working for EA games in QA but now he's helping out the Bz3 guys. So really i'd say he cares and doesn't have the time.
I would try to recompile the xsi code myself but i don't have the sdk. (last time i compiled it was max 5)
About open sourcing the importer/exporter code, i'm not refering to his viewer/editor code just the 3ds max and porter code project files.

Re: Battlezone .VDF Files
Is the source for these around?
Re: Battlezone .VDF Files
