Battlezone II :: Sunday Night Live

Post by GreenHeart »

Everyone might of thought that the total shutdown of bzuniverse.com would greatly affect the Bz2 community. Last Sunday we saw the decade-old called Battlezone 2 come back to life with alot of users deciding to launching Battlezone II with the 1.3 public beta 6. It seems the 1.3 patch is getting more popular..

Below is a screenshot of the game sessions of the 1.3pb6 game sessions with 31 people hosting 12 different sessions.

Then i would have taken my own screenshot after reinstalling pb6 since i'm the one who told you the news that many were playing online while you were just sitting around in the irc chat room. Thanks for the screenshots anyhow. :)

How many people play 1.3 pb6 on a good night?

{edit} nevermind, it appears to be around 35.

Usually, when I play there are about two servers less than that.
But it's still good to see people out playing BZ2 even after BZU died.

That is a good point, but some people are just different and only enjoy talking and playing every once and a while.

Sorry to say but most of the people I do encounter online I did not see on BZU, or only hardly ever.
In fact, the dead of the site might actually invoke a sort of second wind for the game as fans may now be looking for an other place to read/write/ask/post about their favourite game, and what better way to find a new home than to ask kindred minds .. ingame.

Exactly. Most people who actually play the game didn't even visit BZU.

I beg to differ. Many I talked to in the game knew what BZU was and read it often. They however did not register or post because they felt it was too far above them to do so. A mentality I personally blame on the divide of those who play for fun and those who claim to be elite, even when those who play for purely fun are the largest body.

I would like to add that there was a even grater divide bettween newer and older moders we even lost some becouse of it. :(

I was playing BZ2 a couple of minutes ago and there were 8 games! Most of them with 6-10 players!
I'm glad to see this game going strong!
