Sticky Mortar

Post by blue banana »

i was just in another thread, replying to fulmens post about mortars on warriors. i thought about making a new kind of weapon for future mods, a mortar that sticks. unless the splinter does that (i havent used that in forever) then this topic is irrelevant. but there could be this mortar that sticks to whatever you shoot it at. it can have a longer range than the TAG cannon.

Oooh sticky bombs. Just like they had in WW2. I can't think of a way that it would be done without any DLL assistance though. I'm sure someone will say that it can be done via DLL but yet provide no actual help to you.

It can be done by DLL.

Not actually sure of that, but hey. ZA was right.

I did suggest this on the back of the very same discussion.

it would probably work by using an anchorclass. If you wanted it to transfer to different vehicles you'd have to dll it though.

Sticky ordnance is easy to do with anchor class, but a sticky mortar is not currently possible, simply because no such class exists.

Didn't know that leader rounds could do DoT. That's pretty interesting.

Leader's can't be made to arc though, which defeats the idea of this post really

No. Sticky mortar is not possible. Sticky leader round is.

So no, not "still is possible."

Listen to the modders. It is impossible.

To all modders: The below is in basic terms. So, basically, wrong terminology[/b]

For a round to be a mortar, it must arc. If it doesn't arc, it's not a mortar round.

If it doesn't arc and is on a mortar hardpoint, it's a cannon, gun or missile pretending to be a mortar.

Rounds that arc and stick are not possible.

Therefore, sticky mortars are not possible.

Imagine something like MDM that, instead of bouncing off something or detonating when it hits, sticks to it. Or a resin that actually sticks itself to the target.
