Battlezone Icons
Are there anyway I can get some icons related to mods or just BZ1 or BZ2?
Re: Battlezone Icons
ScrapPool made a few but they were lost. The only currently surviving copy was stripped of all BZ2 icons by Spock.

Re: Battlezone Icons
How can I make some?
In other words: How can I transfer a small picture to an icon?

Re: Battlezone Icons
If trying to create a .ico file, which Windows Explorer can use to change an icon, I recommend two pieces of free software. (Closed source, free to use.) First is Paint.Net. Install and run that. Then, grab the .ico file format plugin from here , and install that per the instructions. You can then open images, resize, and save out as .ico files.

Do I have to have Paint.Net or can I just have paint to get the format plugin?GSH wrote:If trying to create a .ico file, which Windows Explorer can use to change an icon, I recommend two pieces of free software. Re: Battlezone Icons
Needs to be Paint.Net. You should avoid MSPaint at all costs.
Re: Battlezone Icons
RD - I mentioned that writer in the mod installer template readme. ;)
Baconboy: I mentioned Paint.net as the first step. If it wasn't necessary, I would have said something else.

Re: Battlezone Icons
Hmmm...
I think it'll work now...
EDIT: It worked. Thanks. Those are nice.
Although, I was looking for ones with the races. These have Uler and Swarm, but I'd like Cerberi and Phear Rahn. I guess I'll just make some if I can.

Re: Battlezone Icons
There is also another way you can make your own icons i dont know if the tutorial still exists but i do have it as a IconTutorial.avi
BZ2 Icon Tutorial
Brought to you by {HEL}DutchBoy
requirements:
3D Exploration
Adobe PhotoShop
*you may also need to upgrade your Windows media player
-If you don't already have 3D Exploration pick it up at http://www.xdsoft.com
-You may also want a demo version of PhotoShop 5.5, pick it up at http://www.adobe.com
I tried to go through the process rather quickly to cut down on file size, so go through a few steps pause it then resume. I thought a video would be the best way to teach everyone, it was also much easier than writing everything down. I've also included the two icon files used in the demonstration, the ISDF walker(for color comparison) and also the AT-ST just for comparison with your own.
***Note (Settings to get icon to look like the stock ones)***
1. In 3D Exploration
a. Delete the "Dummy" object if one exists/
b. In the "Render" pull down menu select "materials"
c. check "Use default material"
d. Make sure "white lights" are selected
2. In Photoshop ("Image" pulldown, "Adjust"
a. Brightness/Contrast
Brightness +25
Contrast +50
b. Hue/Saturation (Master)
Hue -30
Satuation +50
Lightness -10
