US folk often fail to realise that the rest of us don't suffer from this highly polarised politics problem quite as badly as they do.

You can't be serious.

I have a very high level of skepticism for the accuracy of Fox ... or any mainstream news broadcaster, for that matter.
Just follow the breadcrumbs. Most media outlets are owned by a couple of people, each a major lobby for either the left or right wing.
Fox News tried to get a Canadian channel but apparently the application was denied due to a law that prohibits fabricated news that isn't intended to be parody.

I wouldn't go near any broadcaster that doesn't stand on neutral ground with a barge pole.

I think he is, which is the terrifying thing.

So you don't go near ANY of them?

The Independent was generally pretty good, but they lean a little left now.

No quite serious, It was different back in the 70,s and 80,s but now the electorate has grown tired of their nonsense and they know it, both sides attempt to appeal to the same mass of voters, the rich still mostly vote conservative because they think it will pay, everyone else votes for whoever seems to be making sense at the time. Mostly we are now so deeply cynical of our political process that firmly held belief in any one cause would be seen as socially dysfunctional and deeply suspect.
The sort of socialism that is so feared in the US is long dead, the extreme right remain mostly quarantined in their minority fascist movements. The differences between the main 3 parties are so narrow you can barely tell the difference, if there is in fact a difference.
The big political story of the week here is about taxing pasties (a sort of pie) hot or cold? Not exactly the spirit of revolution...

The US does NOT fear socialism, it is just that most of us know that it is against human nature and can ONLY work if we are all robots.
