Where? And... what?
Looking at your screenshots I looked at the cockpit image. It looks like extremely smooth metal, which seems odd since QF, nor any other race, is such high technology.

I don't know... I would assume that any vehicle or object composed of bio-metal and only just built would have perfectly smooth metallic surfaces without so much as a ding or a scratch.

Even katanas have imperfections, in fact they are a side effect of the specific method of creation. That and perfect metal is a boring texture.

I must haz bring up: BZ1 tanks looked gritty. And even some BZ2 tanks do ?

I suppose it depends on how concentrated / % biometal and the materials of construction u want your race to be made out of....

Those imperfections are what makes katana blades beautiful. Probably why they're an effective weapon to some degree, but then again, its Japan, they know how to make crap. XD

Anyway, technically true that everything coming off the lot is shiny, but over time as stuff is used, they do show their age, so making textures to reflect that is never a bad idea to be honest.

TBH, I didn't put more than 30 minutes into that cockpit texture. I didn't go overboard with cockpits because I usually have them turned off. I feel that they obscure the field of vision from units.

On the contrary, I put many, many hours into the unit skins. They all look particularly 'rough', just the way you like them. :)

Hence why I have made them. There are only 2 complete cockpits at the moment - for the QFM scout and tank.

I may or may not complete the others.

Not sure if it's because you did something different, but the sides on that look really nice.

The difference is in the different texture style they use.
