thanks.
Excuse me, what is your problem?
If I was to treat you the same way you are treating me I would have to say now you are muddying up my topic...
Your concern should be for FE and its historical value and preservation, not loud-mouthing when people do exactly what you told them to do and start again.

I agree with that, but how would you feel if people started posting bugreports for RD's FE in your topic?

Except that isn't what happened...
AH posted an alternate version of FE to ask for comparison.
Being in early "re-development" this FE is stuck in the mod dev section where no one goes, so its not unreasonable. Consider how often this occurred when it came to notes of RD's FE and Uler being posted in various other topics not about them? At least in this case it is actually relevant.

Once again, RD, I can't help but call your judgement into question. FE is not "your" mod any more than it is Nielk's. We are its curators. We do not own these things, we merely maintain them in the spirit they were originally created.

I have to point out that that sets the precedent that we have to hide our work for some reason...

I would have done if RD had attempting to continue censoring what we're doing instead of back-pedalling, but you saw it anyway so there was no need.

How are you hidding something if it has its own topic on a forum?
Or does that constitute as hidding, cause if it would we could simply stop making topics and post everything in 1 big happy unreadable topic.

This board is called "Mod Making". How many non-developers do you suppose would come here instead of the Mod Playing board? Having to send out PMs to get people to cross-reference one iteration of a mod with another - for the betterment of both - because one of the developers is grouchy and overly possessive of his work is not a good thing. Dozens of PMs would be required instead of a single public post.

Now I could act all blond and ask you who you are refering to, but we all know who that is in your book. However I could just as easilly make the opposite statement as I've so far have a good experience with RD and had some poor interactions with N1 who got overly passionate about his opinion.
But I realise this forum/community does not revolve around my preferences/ego so sometimes you just accept certain things and deal with it instead of continiously going back there. As I said before, a bit of respect for each other is 'not' asking for much. Specially since we're all in the same community which is small enough as it is.
I.o.w. get over it.

Oh if only yo knew what goes on in the private board and IRC things would be a lot more clear.
I just want to fix all this stuff and peace out. I've got Minecraft to mod.

Red Devil had my respect for many years and to some extent still does, if only for his willingness to take on such a massive workload whilst under immense personal strain.
By the way, this can't be an ego issue since my own work doesn't come into this.

In this case it sort of does... The simple fact is that one project is open, posts its source code, asks for anyone to help, etc, and the other attacks people who point out bugs unless the people who point them out are themselves incapable of understanding how easy to fix or hard to cause in the first place the bugs are.
When it comes to this project, actions going past from before even the start of it owe to nothing but censorship on the part of RD, where any dissenting opinion is removed and the only way we have to warn people of the state of his FE is PMs they can't even reply to due to their new user status. That doesn't make us look like people who care about the community and the fiction, they makes us look like crazy conspirators.
As for the Redux, which in no way pretends to be "FE" itself and in fact is part of a project called "Rebuild", the very fact the project is itself independent hurts your ego argument. The purpose of the project is to fix FE and other landmark campaigns and those fixes to be integrated in whatever needs them (which would include RD's FE).
If someone posts about testing VSR's balance in a topic about playing competitively with the stock 1.3 Recycler do you claim that is about ego? If someone has a topic about a map and another person shows their map as well and asks for critique and comparison is that about ego? When RD posts about his updated G66, Uler, or FE in any topic about the older originals is that about ego? When RD posts and says "I added X feature to G66/FE/Uler" in a topic that has nothing to do with the mods is that about ego?
You need to think about these and either decide that everything is about ego, nothing is about ego, or that you are extremely biased.
Simply put, in this case it is not ego but reverence for the prior works though the testing and comparisons of their derivatives.
As for actual work on the FERedux: I would have more of the stuff converted to C++ by now but I've been working with OvermindDL1 on a LUA mission DLL. I have about 60% of the functions bound so far. That is about 200 of 370 or so. Once they are done I will use the Rebuild of FE as a test-bed, switching from C++ to LUA, given that the LUA scripts are flat cleaner and easier then the C++ in many ways.
