Website changed locations. The BZ2 strat community has also switched over to using their TS servers.
I think most use BZ Forums, now, as a social outlet with the passionate common past experience of Battlezone. However, the many different servers, mods and forums, has turned the community into a fragmented mist.

I don't. Toward the end you could cut the tension in the place with a knife, it had an unwelcoming feeling.
Best to remember the good old days and move on.

I posted the new link as a courtesy to Darkwarrior, who is hosting the new TS server.
That said, you're right that the BZ1 and BZ2 communities are quite fragmented -- and probably for good reason. When it comes to BZ2 at least, stratters don't understand anything about modding or the 1.3 patch, and modders don't really understand stratting either (with few, rare, exceptions). For now, I would say that half of the strat community uses bz2maps.us (the other half doesn't participate in forums), and half of the modder community uses matesfamily (the other half not participating in matesfamily, but perhaps being more active on bz2md, or not forum active). I think this is fine, as it would be difficult for everyone to get along if we were all thrown into the same community.

It is not a division between "straters" and "modders" that is just an illusion one small group has tried very hard to create. It is a very small number of players revelling in the attempted propagation of their own hateful attitudes, While criticising the project from a position of total ignorance. Clearly they have no idea just how dumb it makes them look.

You're probably right.

As long as you're here, in my presence, everything will be just dandy.
*Sneaking the tentacles upon you*
How old are you, by the way?

But it's sad that the great name of FTD has been stolen by such undeserving people... now FTD is just a sorry tag to be seen in BZ2, or anywhere else.
Too bad the good people that managed FTD were overrun by trolls, else it would still have it's good reputation. Instead, I seperated them and called the good people part of another awesome community.
Sad. Well, at least FTD has more members, and a cool sounding name. Just too few good people from the bz2 community joined it when I ran it. Hopefully the crew that manages it now is growing up into a more mature community, and the others that were afraid of it before because of the known trolls that existed (during my time), will trust them and join it now.
Just the way I see it. The history of it. The name came from my online friend in Latvia, he wanted me to manage the community/clan, it had some awesome members at the beginning. Then we all, including myself for sometime got on with our lives. I came back around 2009, resurrected it with new members, but I invited the wrong people into it, ruining it's name. I really hope the current members grow up and mature. They should be of that age soon...
Now Im careful in my new community that is no longer FTD, I don't tolerate such trolls, and I have mature staff that helps me sort through who is allowed in the community. All age groups join and have their own casual groups, but we all communicate

.
Sorry, didn't mean to set the mood bad in this topic. I just needed to say something, since I knew FTD since its start.
