It is never specified in Cormac McCarthy's book "The Road" what the cataclysm was, but I always imagined it was Yellowstone's calderas.

I shouldn't worry, these things are beyond our control, it is up to the god's when their fireworks go off, You never know Yellowstone may actually save our sorry environment-wrecking butts, by doing a less damaging job of us than we would of ourselves.

Apparently, one of my friends had a bad trip on LSD and stapled his mouth shut after he thought bees and snakes were flying into it. Pulled them out with a plyers and plunged his head into disinfectant, instead of going to one of those doctor folks.

Damn those Christian organizations and all their silliness.

Well assuming we still have a Navy...Don't suppose we would get any more help from our good allies in that hemisphere than we did last time though...

Not that shooting protesters and activists is anything new for me or the people I know, (I'm talking from a guilty perspective, not an observer's perspective. I myself have never committed such a crime, but two of my friends have and one of them regrets it totally), it's still within my responsibility to bring attention to the ever going senseless loop of violence called the Mexican-American Drug war.

I must also bring to attention the drug cartel named The Zetas. Who's reach extends all the way into New York, (yes, Americans that far up north have been abducted and executed for various reasons), and was actively being threatened by Anonymous, who recently, pulled out of Mexico.
