MY GOD YES
That was a test. If they were destroyed, there would be no trace of them. If they were non-functional, they'd have been recycled due to the biometal war. I'm looking at you, destroyed gun tower model.

I'd believe there are some commented out lines in there. They probably wanted to do more to reveal story and link it to BZ but....time crunches are time crunches.

It would be a very nice touch. Who's to say they were found, buried under all that snow?

okay, after shoveling and hauling 4 tons of dirt, i looked at the mission today and see that it functions correctly if you follow orders. i'll add some checks and balances to ensure undisciplined players follow them, plus make sure the AI finishes their base and attacks "more better" while you're dinkin' around..

stopped Braddock from ordering the bomber bay built and have made it more sensible.

Braddock tells you to "build a bomber in your bomber bay", even though the tech tree doesn't reach as far as tech center or training facility.

going through the mission code, it appears that the original intent was to have a bridge instead of a tunnel and the bomber-building was so you could blow up the bridge, but then it morphed into a tunnel with a cave-in and a pre-placed bomber bay was added to the south end of the map.

i'm now adding/adjusting code to ensure you don't go through the tunnel prematurely. original coder intent appears to do just that, but was either never implemented or was stopped short of completion. making it so that if you disobey orders, your ship is either destroyed by Braddock after continuing on through the tunnel or you are relieved of duty and the mission ends. or maybe just a pie in the face.

Could always use field tower class for the tunnel objects that push the player's team in the direction towards his/her base and has no effect on the ai team.

We need a "Singleplayer As It Was Supposed To Be" mod.

yes, but i'd like the player to experience the consequences of disobeying She Who Must Be Obeyed (English translation of Shabayev)

If there are no audio comments telling you to stay in the area, they should not be rendered as a text warning (in red: get back to base) but who am I.

there are. Shabby tells you that you should return to base. just finished tweaking the code so that if you don't get back to the other side of the tunnel quickly after Braddock backs her up soon afterwards, the mission fails with a snarky message from Shabby. :D

Its not just the tunnel, a player can easily just drive over the hill to the other side of the map, if you do, you get a warning and 2 minutes to get back (too long). This is fine, a mission fail for disobeying is ok.
The first problem is what happens when you drive through the tunnel too soon, too many triggers go off at once and several voice overs get queued up making no sense at all.
The 2nd is... destroy the rec before it deploys, find the sensor thing and get back to base = mission complete in a matter of minutes without any significant opposition or any need to build more than a few turrets. Maybe this is how it was supposed to be but its not very entertaining.
The 3rd problem is that the deployed scion rec did not build anything, I am quite sure that it should/did do.
