@HG
Ha. I would have put the kids in there with the wife/whoever and go watch TDKR again. Already seen it 3 times. Damn, I love Chris Nolan. No homo.

And the last movie I've watched was Fellowship of the Ring - 9.5/10
Love this movie. Better than 2, not as good as 3 IMO.

My last of note was Margin Call.

It was interesting to see the parallels and caricatures the film portrayed.

Zachary Quinto (the new Spock) and Penn Badgley, portray two 'wet behind the ears' traders that mimic a sort of confused 'Woodward and Bernstein' persona. They are given a revelation of future historic events. And. . .it was kind of obvious Demi Moore was a Blythe Masters and Terri Duhon composite(time 10:58), especially after I had watched the absolutely riveting four part FRONTLINE series Money, Power & Wall Street.

2016, a rather fair and quite eye opening film.

Anyone read/seen Watchmen? I'm reading the book and really want to see the movie, but my parents may make me wait a little while.

The movie was a nice high budget attempt. I can't fault it for trying. I guess, like many films trying to fit a lot of ground in 3 hours, it doesn't quite get it all. And it did offer up in a whole new light the faults, foibles, and pretty much insanity, that can arise having the responsibility of being a "super hero".

I'm quite sure it would effect me profoundly as well.

But was it good? Did it contain the essence and tone and main story of the novel?

I would say it's definitely worth seeing. Although my biggest issue is with 'Doctor Manhattan'. I had much deeper metaphysical mind-altering aspirations for his character.

I've seen the new Total Recall. You can save your money and just rent to old version, you wont miss much.
It simply never gave me the feeling they actually where on Mars, it even 'seemed' as if they were using bits from the old version as a sort of humor (didnt know it was also a comedy).
Far from a poor movie, but its not 'Total Recall'.

Absolutelly worth seeing, but I doubt you'll watch it a second time.

Aww, ok. I'm loving the novel and I'm a huge comic-book movie fan. I'll just judge it myself when I see it.

We just watched The Iron Lady about Margaret Thatcher.

If this were one of many Thatcher films it might have been passable. But everything was a haze through her dementia which was well portrayed by Meryl Streep, but there was no point.

Love her or hate her, she was a major 20th Century figure and there's no story, nothing to say? There are a few weak threads but nothing was explored really. At least heavy-handed movies have a heavy-handed point. This was just pointless.

Kind of an interesting movie if dementia is your thing, but otherwise, forgettable.

Death Race.

Lol, this film made no sense. Ummm, I can't even begin to wonder in what universe the USA would legalize gladiator sports... This film pulls the economic disaster card, and, I have to say it doesn't work.

The combat scenes were enjoyable and reminds me a lot of the old car fighting games I used to play when I was wee-little-lady. (Twisted Metal, Carmageddon, Vigilante-8, Interstate_'82.) Although, it left me wanting to play those games more than watch the film.

It was... enjoyable. Not for the plot though, moreso for the nostalgia of the fighting.

Cheap (2005)

An exploitation thriller film, directed by Brad Jones, depicting the creation of snuff films by a failed porn director(Jack) whom recruits his girlfriend(Patty), a teenage runaway(Anita), and an old friend who was previously found guilty of being a child molester/pornographer(Manny); Jack and crew make large amounts of money for the few snuff films they directed. They deal their films to a high-up producer(Max Force) who's a vain drug addicted rapist with an ex-whore wife and unborn baby. (They not knowing that they're real snuff films, of course.)

I love sleazy films like these. The violence was clearly fake, but very enjoyable. Filming was quirky, dialogue was very enjoyable as well.

Barely any of these characters are redeemable and there's no protagonist in this film. Which is refreshing. Due to actor's performances, Manny and Max Force come off as far more likeable than they should for what kinds of people they are. This is what others say, but I found myself annoyed and quite disinterested with Max Force, as a character. (He swears like a siv.) For me, my attention was grasped by Jack and Manny. Anita and Patty come off as just henchmen. No outstanding qualities.

The soundrack is really good too. Very fitting.

Plot was concrete and very good. The film turns into a revenge film near the end and leads to some depressing consequences for certain lesser characters.

All in all, a great experience.
