but, i digress - back to the experts in physics, astrophysics, biology, sub-atomic physics, and thermodynamics. :mrgreen:

Not experts... just those who believe them.

Philosophy is the most fundamental force driving the advancement of our species, it generates the idea's that science then investigates. Even an incorrect concept shown to be false is another step forwards out of the darkness of ignorance. If we do not ask questions we will not find answers.

Maybe, RD, you should do what you are so fond of and split some of the posts in this topic so it's actually ON topic?

If you want to think of it that way, then yes; your existence is pointless, my existence is pointless, and so is everyone else's. All that should matter now is what we leave behind for others to enjoy; if there is anything waiting for us after we've become just so much compost, then well... no point worrying about it now, nothing we can do will change it. Let's cross that bridge when we come to it.

The topic title could be considered somewhat all encompassing. :)

Just more proof of arbitrary non equal treatment and bias.

I started this post because I disagreed with an assumption in the excellent strategy guide. My explanation for the resource gathering system didn't seem to get any negative feedback (unless I missed something). But yeah I should have put a 'vis a vie' in there. All this talk about tachyon unicorns existing in thinspace made my head spin a little. But I'd like to know, does anyone challenge my original explanation or not.

Since everyone else is off topic I might as well jump on the bus. According to Buddhism the fact that life is meaningless and designed to keep us from understanding God. This is the great secret that leads to enlightenment. Supposedly when you die Buddha appears and if you understand the secret he laughs like you see in statues in chinese restaurants as the two of you enjoy the great cosmic joke on your way past karma and into heaven. But if you don't understand that life and everything in it is meaningless, Buddha appears as a monster that devours you and sends you back to be reborn once again. And just saying life is meaningless but not really understanding only gets the big B more angry btw.

But again, the one teleporter idea I postulated seems to be the best answer for why resources are managed the way they are. Five pages of posts and not a single comment on the post that started everything. This is why I prefer to be a drunken scav.

wowzers, sounds the joke's on you if you believe in buddhism. :D

as for scrap teleportation, thanks to GSH and Commando, technology has increased over the years and is activated by adding this entry to the requisite units:

[ExtractorClass] or [RecyclerClass] or [ScavengerClass] or [ScavengerHClass] or [SiloClass]
RunParallel = true

It's not a very good secret...The purpose of (all) life is to enable the Universe to perceive itself, hardly pointless in my opinion, the only worthwhile thing for it to do really.

For that to be the case the Universe would have to be a distinct entity composed of the collective of its parts, which is somewhat far-fetched.

It is not an individual.
You are not just an individual, the far greater part of you, from your hair colour to the instinctive fear of spiders was inherited. Most of the information that makes you has been around a lot longer than the daydream that thinks of itself as an individual.
