Here's a cake...you can eat it or you can keep it. How long will it take for people to understand that trying to do both just won't work.

my opinion: if you enter my house illegally, you're gone. anything else is just noise.

Your fighting a battle you cannot win though. It is the price for an Empire, that the world you dominate eventually comes to dominate you. Both the US and Britain have followed the same path in search of wealth, our capital is now known as Londonistan by those who live there...Washintonabad sound ok with you?

Lots of subjective situations. Although I realize you mean the clearly objective.

You would have a bit of explaining to do if you blew away a six year old who found your front door unlocked and was curious.

Indeed. I gave an extreme example, but there are many others where you and the local DA would have to dance.

i'm using an analogy. the same principles apply whether it's your house or your country. it's just a matter of scale.

It seems to me there is something inherently wrong with the concept of free trade and movement in goods, resources or food but not people.
Not that I would want open immigration, or indeed, to be told that I cannot leave.

Iow you and me can pretty much travel the world without much trouble, just because our society 'owns' land/resources they just happen to 'stumble upon', where at the same time you'd rather not like the other guy to be able to ;)
And probably for similair reasons I do have to regretfully agree with you..
