And here Red Devil is proving my point about religion and politics. The most common US argument for why homosexuality should be illegal? A book written thousands of years ago said so.

I still have no idea how a country so advanced in some ways can be so primitive in others.

It mainly concerns the rights of states and the 1st Amendment, so that a particuraly religious state can choose not to recognize certain things should they violate the religious beleifs of a majority of the people. It's the old argument of the people's will versus what the state says.

not even close; have a child, send him to college where he'll be safe only to have some perv coach in a shower rape them in order to "recruit" him.

I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of homosexuality.

As with most politics everything lies on a spectrum of deception. These are not just Laws against homosexuality, this is the deliberate deconstruction of democracy and freedom in Uganda. Such laws are so open to abuse that the rest of the legal framework is now just so much waste paper. Anyone can now be accused and charged with homosexuality, legally imprisoned and killed.
Defendants would have to prove they are not homosexual, an impossibility.
It is a tool for government to destroy any opponents. How simple it is to use peoples own bigotry to take their freedom from them. People either understand freedom and support it, or they do not. Cheer on the rise of yet another murderous dictatorship in the foolish belief that it could never happen where you live...

yup, it appears that a full-grown man in a position of trust raping kids under his control or him - and others of his ilk - "recruiting" young and impressionable heterosexual boys whose physical brains have not even matured enough to allow their minds to make sound decisions of their own yet is okay with a number of people...

First of all, that is far from the most common argument. I don't agree with them, but I can tell you, you again have America wrong and are basing your perception on another media lie.

Some people just hate homosexuality. These are the stupid humans that pleuge the world.

Just live and let live. People shouldn't try to control other's lives.

Rape is rape, got laws for that. Passing laws that permit a state or nation to execute anyone over a charge they cannot defend themselves from is a deliberate act of terror against that population, their bigotry has cost them their freedom.
Unless of course you can figure out a good defence for an unfounded charge of homosexuality? There is no way to prove your innocence. Legalised witch hunting. The Unenlightenment continues.
