That's what we call a lunatic. They exist on all sides of all disagreements.

I think he could be arrested and charged with conspiracy to kidnap, here in the UK. I suspect he could be in the US too, but I don't suppose it will happen.
Fischer stands by his remarks, and stated on Focal Point that the kidnapper has an obligation "to obey God rather than man."
His state of delusion is quite worrying really, a total failure to appreciate the diversity of the many mind states of "god" Power crazed and delusional he seeks to dominate and control others, forcing his personal personification of "god" onto them. The worst sort, utterly blind to anyone else's view of the world. Its folk like him that makes me despise Religion, their lies and the insanity they bring about.

"It’s a cartoonish and needlessly provocative scenario."
Whew, I'm glad that was thrown in.
Suggesting a demographic that is older, conservative, has responsibilities, families, assets, etc., is going to rise up in violent revolt, when the only evidence to date has been the far left fringe groups of the OWS wreaking havoc across the country.
But let's not that logic get in the way.

But then so is some of the US political discourse...From over here it starting to look disturbingly like the rise of some sort religious style fascism. The rational majority need make more effort to put the mental cases in their place, unheard and unheeded. Some of those people are only one small step away from where the Taliban etc are already at. Your military are quite right to plan for this scenario, this is exactly how things go badly wrong, it all looks so cartoonish and unbelievable, that nobody takes it seriously until its too late.

If there are some who feel there's a
Machtergreifung looming on the horizon, I'd say an equally fanciful
chill pill could be manufactured for those that need one.

Not quite sure who you think is in need of medication. To be honest, I know that what we see here is probably mostly the product of highly imaginative reporting by what laughably passes for the free press these days. And that most of these "extremists" are no such thing, rather they are just opportunists attempting earn a living by seducing the highly gullible into supporting them. But it is in precisely such a confused state of public conciousness that abuse of power can become uncontrollable.
So a guy who actually just wants to sell a lot of chicken flesh, for example, advocates the kidnapping of children and goes unpunished for it because nobody on either side wants the fallout from having the law upheld or clearly define the boundaries of free speech within the context of belief. So anyone wanting to step over those boundaries can do so safely as long as they hold their "shield of faith" firmly...
Could you imagine the uproar if homosexuals had advocated the kidnapping of the children of the faithful, in order to protect them from the "brainwashing" they are so clearly subjected to? I don't think the response would have been quite the same.

the war college prepares for any possible scenario, no matter how far-fetched it may seem. people don't plan to fail - they just fail to plan, and all that. but, hey, if there is an uprising, the military will probably be in the lead anyways.

no way they're going to pass up a chance to help oust a pro-iranian regime there. as elsewhere, the people around the world are cool, but the idiots who press their own ideology and get into gubmit jack it up for the rest of us.
