Tunnels

A question on tunnels: what is the correct way to add tunnel sections below ground? The editor apparently does not just let you add them in and automatically adjust for ground depth. I see there is a height function, for placing objects, which may be what you use. If so, how deep should this go, say you are placing a tunnel section from a flat entrance at terrain height=500? Also, do different entrances require different depths, and do some of the ramp sections have different drop off values? Maybe there is a chart for this somewhere.

I see that in some maps (IA Surprise) the tunnels can go quite deep.

Best way is to 'eyedrop' an entrance section, and then click 'ground' and 'align' so that ground is disabled (it will use an absolute height) and align is enabled. Then place a tunnel section equal to or a certain number of meters (like 20) below the entrance section (depending on the type of tunnel system you're putting in).

Experiment till you get it right.

I'd go as far as stating that you should "never" place a tunnel/bridge without using the align option. Ofcourse the only exclusion from this is the first entrance/ramp you place, but here you can leave the align option on.

Take ZA's last bit of advice very literally, you can do all sorts of funcky stuff with (custom) tunnels :)

Aaah, so that's what Align is for... neat, there was no option like this for BZ1. Thanks.
