What i want to do is copy frm-animation to the geometry, position and rotation keys.
Is there a way to easily copy over animation from one model to another?
I'm pretty sure selecting the animation keys copy and paste to the new model won't work, at least in max 7.1.
Maybe a script that does it?

If you're using XSI files, its easy as pie in notepad.

This is animation work in the 3D modeling app. not text editing.

Merge Animation - and you'll probably need to set the hotkey for it to get it open.
It's a bit irritating, but it does work. You just need to set the settings perfectly.

The animation is on the helpers, i need it on the objects, how do you merge that?

Helpers? The only time that I've ever seen helpers is when I imported old XSIs into Max a few years back. Can you change helpers into objects?

It's that bug from 3DE exporting animation in 3ds format, the animation is on the frm- instead of the object.

It could still be possible to merge the animation from a helper to an object. Ensure that the helper has the exact same name as the object, then see if that can work.

3DE messes up the names

You have the keys stuck on the FRMs rather than the MESH? The BZ Exporters choke on FRMs too... I normally just select each keyframe in the timeline and select the MESH under the FRM and add the key. Once I have them all, I pull it out of the hierarchy (while on frame 1) and MAX seems to convert the animations to the new local scope.

FYI I did find a good answer for this, there's an animator that scripted a bunch of tools for 3ds max. The animated align tool worked very well for me allowing me to do the work in very little time.
