Has anyone here been following the attacks in Norway for the past few days? It is a tragedy, but what is intresting is the person who did it. He was an ultra-nationalist beleiving in a new type of crusade. While this sort of behavior in inexcusable, lets think for a moment about his idea. I have nothing agaisnt a true Muslim, they are good people. However, it would appear that the influence of Islam on Western Culture is begining to reach the point where people are starting to get fed up with it. I fear in the coming years there may be a true Holy war between East and West so to speak, and an event like this may be responsible. My prayers go out to those in Norway suffering right now.

If Jared Loughner had had the ability, he would have killed every person in that parking lot in Tucson as well.

There is so much debate about concealed weapons and gun control, and I understand the ramifications of expanding the carrying ability of those certified and licensed to do so. And here we have a good example for the argument for such. If a couple or more of the counselors had been carrying firearms on that island maybe the death toll would have been but a small fraction of 80+. But, as we have seen in many cases like this, it was sheep to the slaughter.

And it takes something like this to happen before anyone does anything to rectify it.

Yes, all the more reason to pull back from this, identify the extreme right wingers, religious fundamentalists, etc and lock them up in asylums before they snap...

yes, it's the extremists (left or right, up or down) that ruin it for the rest of us, but those open-door, multi-culturalist policies really are the root of the problem.

think of your country as your home - the one you actually live in - and some politician/bureaucrat tells you you have to leave your door unlocked, all in the name of being 'open-minded'. Then, one day, you come home and find your wife and daughter(s) raped, the person/people still living there, eating your food, and forcing you to sleep on the couch - and more keep coming in. sooner or later, you or someone else will snap.

i'm not justifying them or condoning them, but just looking at it as what happens to even rats in a lab: pack enough of them together and they start fighting/killing each other.

I don't think Norway actually suffers from population issues, really this is all about the mental illness know as hate, it takes many forms, but is basically where an individual becomes obsessed with their hatred of a particular type of "other" people. They will blame them for all their own problems imaginary or real and see killing as the solution. I have been of the opinion for a long time that the solution to this issue should be reflective.

They wont have a neurosis for long if a reflective policy turns their own beliefs on themselves...

It doesn't matter where you live, in what kind of society you live in and no matter what type of government you have. There is always going to be some crazy bastard that will come along and take some people with him.

Actually, this person was pro Isreal and Judaeo-Christian beleifes. He Isn't a Nazi per say, but has beleifs that parralel the Nazi's in some way.

well, Judeo-Christianity and Islam is headed for a bigger i-hate-you/i-hate-you-more confrontation anyways; stuff like this is just the tip of the iceberg.
