Where is that coming from?

Someone currently working with a 3D rendering framework and having to deal with handling meshes, texturing, winding, shaders and collision. Do not even think about getting me started on why high poly models will never work on computers, especially since we're hitting the roof of what is possible with current tech at the moment.

4GB framebuffers are right on the corner. Hell, the 7890 gives you 3gb of it and a 384(?) bit bus, which moves an astronomical amount of data around. It will only go up from there. You can have those high poly models sitting rendered ready to go with just half of that, freeing up the rest of it to do the real time computations. Imagine 6gb+ of that RAM on a 512-bit bus...or don't, your wallet might explode.
