All who play the game
I wanted to make a topic that discusses the way that Battlezone brings happiness into your life. So few of the topics lately are relative to the joy this game brings that it is pitiful. I would like to lighten the atmosphere with a friendly list of why you play, or maybe why you mod or why you use this forum even. My hope is that each and every one of you do it because the love for this game is so great that you come here to express it. Lately I'm not feeling it from a few of you.
The reason I play the game and visit this forum is because the game is like no other when it comes to fun. I can use strategy to overcome an alien enemy, all while being in the fight, making advanced weapons with new tech, and the server is hassle free, got voice built in, random attacks when you play G66 keep you on your toes so that not every attack is the same. I like staying busy, especially if the rewards and losses are great, this game provides that in abundance. So great that the losses can actually change your attitude, winning too can change your whole day, going to bed with a smile on your face that you've defeated the forces of evil. For some strat players this is a big part of your fun, whether you realize it or not. I visit the forums just for news on new mods, their development, testing a few choice ones makes me feel like a part of things. I share a little bit of my music on occasion. I don't know how to modify anything but have appreciated Red Devil taking little bits of advice from me and my wife to mold G66 into a very busy mod that tests the abilities of any good player.
That's all I have, join me in a game here and there. Let us know why you love the game.

Re: All who play the game
I think the thing I enjoy about battlezone is the capability to customize my army down to their weapon loadouts, and then the mods just add to the possibilities.
That's the thing that I've had a hard time coming to terms with while playing as Scions (note this is 1.2), your options are a bit more limited.

My greatest fear realized...a...a..motivational meeting! Panic!
Re: All who play the game
I enjoy the ability to modify the game, and the experience I have gained doing so. The game has been a springboard for my 3D graphics education.
Re: All who play the game
Pretty much what you guys already said.
In a nutshell: the way this game allows you to variate, adapt, stategize or simply use brute force, etc is what makes the basis for its awesomeness. The fact you can activelly participate in it, but are not forced to do so (more choice and freedom) is what completes it.
(I for instance have become a great fan of Supreme Commander titles, they however dont allow you to really participate in them yourself, eventhough the 'ACU'-unit makes up for that slightly. BZ is like SC, but now you actually are that ACU. Anybody need some inspiration for a mod?

Ever since I discovered how to get customized user created models and props into the game I've been pretty much hooked on BZII. Don't really play or mod for it much anymore, but the model making side of it is so very cool without a doubt...it's become sort of a good way to pass time in an otherwise blant life....

Re: All who play the game
No reason to quit really, got a great "ignore" function in the game now
I do wonder if all this trollism is just a symptom of the "grew up with the internet" and overly protected from reality generation. Spent too much time online and too little face to face interaction with actual people who might punch them in the mouth if they gave out that sort of attitude in real life. I suspect it is.

I'm the same way as here online. I just roll the dice and take my chancesMrTwosheds wrote:No reason to quit really, got a great "ignore" function in the game now

Not too sure about that. Most people may feel tempted to punch you in the mouth when you behave like that, but those that actually do probably fall within the same group as the offenders belongs to, so they wont learn anything there.MrTwosheds wrote:No reason to quit really, got a great "ignore" function in the game now

I think it simply is the nature of the individual, you simply have some with less morals and values, or are easily influenced or manipulated, now they also have a presence on the internet.

I recall the well-aged feeling of watching several mortar bikes open fire on a defenseless turret in IA... Just the memory of "ok, here we go!" brings a smile to my face.

There we go, a smile to someones face. That's what I'm talking about. Who else here has positive things to say. Come on, let's stop hating and work together as a team. This game is old and if all the modders aren't working together then it's curtains for future mods.Ex-Ranza wrote:I recall the well-aged feeling of watching several mortar bikes open fire on a defenseless turret in IA... Man there is SO MUCH PASSION for this game, it's hilarious really. People that want it to stay like it was created but better, people who want to make mods but need assets that are someone elses stuff, story lines that conflict, new comers trying to tell everyone how to make models with untried programs, people quitting the forum because they said something embarassing. Come on fellow gamers, this ain't right. Pull together and make something as a team. We still have plenty of people playing the game, now with the new 1.3.6.2 patch. Don't let us down guys/girls. If you are working on mods, ambitious mods, don't work alone. We should all be brothers by now. A community.
We have some great modders, with some very high passionate things to say about the progression of the story line, graphics capabilties, new assets from one of the original creators of the game, a Scrap website that hosts a plethora of assets, G66 and other mods being updated. With all these things there shouldn't be any reason why people can't just get along, or better yet, pull together and compare notes, hash out a plan to make something that works together. Not everyone seperately working alone and criticising everything that ain't right. I wish I could take you all out to dinner for all the contributions you've made so far towards making the game better, but I'm not a rich man, just one that needs a new mod to play, so as Picard would say,..."Make it so". lol
