You can move around whilst firing mortars at a target - you can't move around while sniping.

Well, if you're in the air...

Awesome so long as you are not on the receiving end of it.

if they stand still a lot why dont you just snipe them
Plenty of reasons, most important being that I at the point I see that I am facing a player that is standing still a lot, I know I am facing a newer or absent player. I already know I won the 1vs1 fight, and likely the entire game.

Sniping is a tactic I use when I need it to win, but get little fun out of. Giving you some oppurtunity to stumble over your own feet can be rather hilarious :)

Well, if I got airsniped, it'd be lousy, but I'd have to bravo.

I forgot to mention that Missile Scouts and Bombers are the best looking unit out of ISDF and Scion races. Except adorable Maulers.

And did you see that one video in BZI where a guy randomly fired his sniper rifle into the air and killed someone?

Maulers: Look adorable, but they bite.

Also, would that have been Sporkinator by any chance?

No, it was posted on BZU by a different player. The name, I forget.

Pummel empties.

My favorite ISDF unit is a sniped blink warrior with blast.

My favourite ISDF unit is the Saber tank and the scout.

I still remember when I played BZ2 the first time and this strange feeling when flying over pluto with the scout everything was destroyed and it gave you the creeps since you just sat in a scout. :)

My first impression on that same Pluto map was that "this game is going to be impossible to play well due to these wonky controls"
Actually that was my second impression, my first being "Thunderbolt is the bomber, what gives?"

Nah, I accepted that groups sorted by color might be a necessity of having 3 times as many forces operating in the same area.

I love me some rocket tanks. A rocket tank swats down floating Scion units like a giant flyswatter. Array them in a chorus line and they become essentially Mauler-proof. Oh, and they'll see (and pick off) Archers floating by overhead, too. Get enough of them together and they'll eat Titans for lunch. Keep some scavengers close by... the site becomes a drop-off point for Scion scrap. :D
