Playing with new stuff on the other hand can be fun, but you can simply use the editor to do that without a load of work. That however doesnt allow you to play missions, but that shouldnt matter. If you want all the assets of the mods you clearly are interested in the visual aspect of the mods and not their gameplay/missions.

Re: BZ2 Question: Share Units Across Mods
Thanks guys for your input. I am only trying to understand how a mod is built. I have been a player for long. I am trying to get my feet wet in modding & as such I am trying to learn by reverse engineering the current mods.
From the earlier posts I see that I will have to change the build requirements as well. Well more work to do but I will keep at it. Learning modding is fun.
@Zero Angel: I have to edit the buildItems list in the recycler's or factory's odf but there are so many odf files in the recycler directory. How can I figure out which one is the real one? I can change them all if I have to.
@MrTwosheds: Thanks for the heads up. I hadn't considered the build constraints. But I assume that those constraints should also be defined in the unit's odf. Shouldn't it? Any tip on how to find it?
@RedSpot: I am not trying to make the story & background fit. I am just trying to understand how mods are build & what the pieces are. Perhaps if I know this I can contribute better than submitting bug reports, maybe I can contribute patches. Also how do I do this in BZEditor? I have never used it before.
To summarize my next goal
1) is to edit the buildItems list in the recycler or factory' odf. However I have to figure out which file I have to edit among all the similar looking odf files
2) is to figure out what the build requirements & restrictions are & how to edit them?
Am I right?
