SP maps in MP?
Wondering if anyone here has considered taking the Single player maps, adjsuting them for balance, and making them into playable maps in MP. Seems like an intresting idea to me and am wondering if it could be done.

Only about half a billion times. It's been shot down numerous times in the past for being too demanding for the small payoff it would bring.

One or two have been done successfully, but that's about it.

Re: SP maps in MP?
In my experience, asymmetrical maps are not very popular as strat maps, even when they are decently balance. There would likely need to have some *serious* refactoring done to get most campaign maps to be symmetrical and still look familiar.
As an MPI map, though. They would make a lot more sense. There are some pretty interesting, but rare, MPI maps that make use of an uphill battle, such as ZTV: The Long Journey and ZTV: Death Ray. Campaign maps are more or less on equal ground, but I think that some of them would work as MPI maps.

I have never understood this obsession with symmetrical maps, I think they look better being asymmetrical, the positioning of pools is important though, the bay of palms is a good example of how an asymmetrical map should not be built.

Symmetrical maps are a nice idea for prize tournaments (which I realize are a thing of the past for BZ1 & 2) so everyone has the exact same kick-off conditions. Asymmetrical are cool for the rest of multiplay, where you spawn in and must quickly evaluate your position's weakness as well as strengths.MrTwosheds wrote:I have never understood this obsession with symmetrical maps, I think they look better being asymmetrical, the positioning of pools is important though, the bay of palms is a good example of how an asymmetrical map should not be built.

Asymmetrical maps are difficult to balance. The slightest imbalance is a huge deal and even when reasonably balanced many players have a stigma towards playing *any* asymmetrical map.MrTwosheds wrote:I have never understood this obsession with symmetrical maps, I think they look better being asymmetrical, the positioning of pools is important though, the bay of palms is a good example of how an asymmetrical map should not be built.
Bay of Palms could actually work if the pathing was completely fixed (it did recieve some fixes to make the bridges at least usable by treaded units) the north player's base spawned the NW instead of NE and the pools were a little less biased towards the southern player.

SP maps would be easy to convert to MP
