It's Been a While

Post by Gamer1 »

Hello All,

I recently got the BZ itch once again and decided to peek in and see what is going on. My my how things can change quickly. Well, I guess it really wasn't all that quickly since I was gone for nearly a year. What can I say, life got busy and there just wasn't any time left to play BZ.

I'm still farting around getting the game all tweaked to work on Windows 7 with all the maps and such that I like. I spent the day today cleaning out the old bzfiend.com website. The spammers had broken through the forums so i had to get things cleaned up from that mess.

Anyway, just a quick note to say Hi and invite ya'll to stop by bzfiend.com if you have the time. And if you enjoy playing MPI games let me know and maybe we can play a round or two. I'm old and slow, so I like playing a slow game that concentrates on base defenses first and then we build up forces and go annihilate the computer enemy. It's a great environment for newbies to practice their skills.

Hope to see ya round..

WB :)

That sounds like every MPI game (not g66 mind you) ever played in the history of bz2, heh.

Welcome back man. Be sure to try out the UEP Beta while you're here [/endplug]

But yeah, its good to see players coming back to this game. When I posted the UEP page on facebook last week a few of my friends saying they remember they game and how it went from awesome to rock solid hard within the first four missions. I'll have to persuade them all to come play it too...

hahaha.. now that might be an understatement.. I have not looked back at BZ 1 in a long time but recently was poking around and quickly realized there is quite a little feud going on there. It's a little funny to me because I think one of the main reasons BZ II has done so well over the years is that there is always something new. If I get bored with the maps I have to play I just head to the web and in no time there are several new maps or some mod release that I didn't know about to download and I'm off to the races with a brand new game that has all the same controls I'm very used to using. PERFECT!

Whether it's BZ or BZ II being talked about, I would welcome people with new ideas, new mods, new maps, new servers, etc.. Anyone wanting to contribute any of these things should be happily welcomed. And those that want to have it their way or they are going to take their ball and go home should just go home and take their ball. We will find another ball and continue to have fun playing!!!

For a lot of years whenever I've rarely gone lurking in the forums it always seemed like there were always several people who seemed to have very thin skins. Maybe some very creative types are just that way, who knows. We all have our struggles. I get real angry when the forum spamming robots figure out how to get around my spam defenses and overnight I have 2,000 new users and thousands of not only useless posts but also many that are very crude as well. Am I going to "show them" and shut down my site? I don't think so. It's a lot of work for me and it's very annoying, but it's my forum and it's up because I want it up. So I do the work and move on.

The interesting thing is I tend to do more work when I bring it back. Making it better than before in more than just a security related way. Turn your sour lemons in to lemonade sort of thing.

Anyway, thanks for the welcome messages. They are very appreciated. I have not fired up the game as yet, just getting back in tune with the community at this point. It's hard to have time to both play the game and keep up in the forums, so I tend to switch back and forth between them with what little free time I get.

I have so much I'd like to do at my site to make something that I hope is beneficial to others who enjoy this great game called BattleZone.

It's not so much a feud going on is that there are individuals who will go to most any measure to have their way. That's one reason you found this forum to be so new.

And that is why you will not last a day before you are banned if you go to "one of the BZ1 servers" and merely mention you like mods and appreciate the redundancy of other servers avaliable for the game.

Ahhh, maybe I exaggerate a bit. . . you might get one warning to never mention them again before you're banned.

Death to ALL fish mongers! I will be allowed to speak my mind so long as I keep my comments reasonably polite and my facts correct. Or I will not care that I was banned from a place that does not allow people to speak their minds and opinions in such a manner. Moderation is a necessary thing, but some people simply have no business being in charge of anything.
