Taking screenshots in BZ2...need help

Post by Saraphys »

Without sounding like a newbie (or n00b), Iv done this before on my old games on previous PC's, but I just cant get this to work... Iv been over multiple boards already trying to figure this out, but i figured posting here would be my best shot at an answer... :D

How do you get the BZ2 to take screenshots?
Iv got NewKeys92700...followed the instructions...
Is it because im only running BZ2 1.2???

...There's no sign of error's in the battlezone log file (as iv said, iv been across multiple boards already), and the game clearly acts as though its taking screenshots...but i just cant find where they're going...

...Whats the default name for the screenshots? Maybe i can search for them that way...I dont know, Im stumped on what to try next...

No, thats just making the experience of playing bz2 horrible. :)
Win xp. You press the prtscn button, that takes a screen shot, It is stored in memory, alt tab out of bz2 open a graphics program and press cnrtl v to paste the image from memory.

...didnt realise we were now considering playing the game 'essentially' stock-standard was a bad thing... :P

Thanks GBD... hopefully that'll fix the problem...

Its my personal opinion, I must assume your not playing online or you would probably agree. 1.2 is not stock standard, what gets loaded from the cd is.

1.01b is stock standard as far as I'm aware, and I wouldn't be playing that again in a hurry.

As far as I'm concerned, unofficial beta is unofficial beta. That means 1.3 is simply the later evolution of 1.2. Want official, play 1.01b or 1.1.

...nitpickers aside...

GBD, that didnt seem to work to the way I was hoping...

...Is pressing print screen then Alt+Tab'ing out and going into (default program) Paint and pasting the image the ONLY way of taking a screenshot in BZ2??? That seems long and time consuming, and that cant be how I got all my screenshots before...

Ok, did 1.3 give us a better way of producing ingame screenshots then???

Try adding Bind("SysRq", "iface.screenshot"); to bzgame_keys.cfg. Should mean you don't have to alt+tab.

Isn't it ctrl+G? Also, in 1.3 screenshots via the in game screenshot feature will not work in MP. For SP, I suggest 1.2 until we somehow, if ever, get campaign fixes into 1.3. For MP I suggest 1.3, use a side program to grab screenshots or something on the fly.

ALSO, if you want, you can download Irfan View, install, startup iview, hit c, startup bz2, and then just hit ctrl-f11/f12 and there you go. if you don't want that, try what AH suggested, it's probably easier.

Well there is iface.screenshot. The BZ New Keys should have it set to Ctr+G. (1.3 also has this by default) Screenshots usually automatically save in Battlezone II\Screenshots\, 1.3 PB4+ ? will save them in My Documents\My Games\Battlezone II\Screenshots\ if it sees your using Vista/7.

If it is not doing this (1.0-1.2, or 1.3 with /novista in command line), on win vista/7, check to see that it can write to the BZ2 folder. (Vista/7 cannot write to anything under a folder called "Program Files" or "Windows" without administration privolages)

So, for Vista/7, either:

A: Right click on bzone.exe, properties, compatability. Run as administrator.

B: Move the Battlezone II folder to anywhere NOT in Program Files. (C:\Battlezone II) works, so does My Documents\Battlezone II

N1, we've been over this...

My box has version 1.0, described by MM5. I also have a version 1.01b2, 1.2, and about 7 1.3.s....

I use Fraps, there is a trial version. I designate a button and can take as many screen shots as I want or make mpeg vids in game. I actually bought the program and love it.
